An auv3 arpeggiator that resets the pattern with (any) note input?
Hey yall -
I'd like an arp to help me jam with different drum machines the way Drumjam or Figure works- finally got that app and love the way I can easily get nice patterns with a combination of tap/holding notes.
I have Rozetta arp, but it lacks the complexity to make different patterns.
I have Bleass arp, but it seems its patterns will not 'reset' from different note inputs (and even when a specific midi note reset is specified/played, it just plays once and stops).
From watching videos of Arpbud, it seems like the arp 'position' is always playing through with AUM's playhead, so that'd be a no-go also.
Can Steppolyarp work like this? Read through the documentation but couldn't find an answer.
Guessing Drambo can do it? But would love a simpler tool as my old Ipad's already pretty clogged up w/this project.
Thanks in advance!

Harmony Bloom does this. It’s a not a traditional arp in the sense of dialing in exact notes so to speak. It definitely does what you’re asking though
I would be happy to test StepPolyArp for you, but I don't understand what you're looking for.
It seems that you're not looking for an arpeggiator but rather for an app that composes patterns for you, which can be launched by hitting a note.
Are you looking for an arpeggiator that resets on every input note change, even when you are already holding notes? Kebarp from @cem_olcay behaves that way.
Have you tried Playbeat 3? It can definitely create a new random pattern every n cycles.
Not entirely sure what you're after here ... if incoming notes reset the pattern, then are you latching or holding down the notes, otherwise the pattern would be constantly resetting rather than arping.
Thanks for the quick replies, this forum rocks
@Uprightmusic thanks for the tip! I have Harmony Bloom and it does work as a midi-repeater, albeit not with the kind of patterns I'm after. MidiGate got me a bit closer, but that also doesn't reset its pattern on note input.
@wim that would be wicked - I'm basically trying to have a pattern (just one note since it's drums) re-start from the beginning each time the note is held down, instead of "where it left off" or "where it would be according to the clock running through the pattern" -- this seems to be how Bleass Arp and Arpbud work. Hope that's clearer? If you've used Figure, I'm thinking of the way its triggering works.
@rs2000 yes true, I'm looking for something that triggers a pattern of a single note upon pressing. Are there sequencers that would work better for this than an arp? Tried MidiStep but without any luck
@catherder thanks for the tip! will check out kebarp (this name makes me laugh out loud...)
@hellquist have never tried any of the Playbeats, that's good to know! Hope 4 comes out soon, was planning to pick that up
@craftycurate yes holding down the notes! the idea is I'm alternating tapping and holding to get a drum pattern that mixes single hits with sections of "the pattern" that re-starts each time note is held
@ermwhish Another way to come at this is to work back from your desired end result, and think if there may be different ways to achieve that, if there isn't an arp that will do what you want.
Imaginando LK with the Matrix addon is perfect for that. Each clip can be triggered by a different MIDI note.
StepPolyArp works that way by default. 👍🏼
Here I have StepPolyArp set up to play a whole drum pattern. The pattern plays as long as my I'm sending any note to StepPolyArp. When I stop the note the pattern stops. When I press again it starts from the beginning. Of course you can send just one note in the pattern.
StepPolyArp's options for this are huge. Each "lane" can have it's own length and clock divider. Note the A#2 and C#3 (Ruismaker FM HiHats) lanes, which are shorter so that the hats repeat at a different rate from the kick and snare.

There are lots of options per lane.

StepPolyArp also has a Sequencer mode where the pattern plays with the transport rather than by pressed notes.
@wim
amazing - had my eye on SPA before and glad to have another reason to finally pull the trigger
thanks for the explanation and the screenshots!
@rs2000
sounds cool I've nevere checked out Imaginando will have a peek - thank you
And that was even before I noticed there was an update that just landed today. 😎
