Most fun apps right now

After skimming through the thread "What's your favorite sounding IOS synth currently?" and the new thread "Anyone else (especially ol’ timers) notice that ipad/ios music making has lost its unique edge?", I was wondering :

What are your most fun music production apps on iOS right now?

I'm talking about apps that are, for example, intuitive, interactive and/or make good use of a touchscreen. That get good results fast for jamming around without the need of menu diving or fine-tuning.

For my part, I really like :
SpaceCraft
Ruismaker, especially Ruismaker Noir
Koala Sampler
Harmony Bloom
Fugue Machine
Fractal Bits, Relic Flow and Relic Waves

I probably need to get more familiar with :
Rymdigare
Animoog Z

And I surely forget a few!! Thanks in advance for taking the time!!

Geoshred ticks all of these boxes, it’s very musical so results will depend on some musical chops (or in my case, lots of practice).

  • Really want to get into spacecraft but feel like I’m set on holding out for the eventual update

mine is expected to be available in several hours.
how do i know in advance?
well, it's obviously designed with live performance in mind.

  • My fun jamming apps is making quick track of chord changes with a SessionBand app and soloing piano or geoshred or thumbjam over it. Been spending a lot of time in coffee shops thumbjaming lately.

  • Figure is always so fun

Sector. I don't think there has ever been a more fun iOS music app. I have to be careful not to start playing with it when there's anything else important to do, like sleeping, because I look up after a little bit and it's hours later.

Relic Flow is right up there too. With it I feel like I'm exploring the cosmos and encountering all kinds of alien beings and cantina bands.

  • Toool is also fun to play with when I'm without inspiration

  • I really get along with Fluss.

You can go blind from playing with your toool too much. At least that's what my mom told me when I was a kid.

  • Lately it has been Koala. I own all the things but it’s my most used app. I’ve been having so much fun with my daughters creating tracks before bedtime. My youngest has even shown me things I didn’t know you could do like resampling multiple pads at the same time. At one point she asked me to be quiet and then sampled her farts. Then turned it into a track. They both have picked up on the workflow easily.

Farts were also my entry into synthesizers

  • Fluss, DrumJam, Shoom and SpaceCraft for touchy goodness.

I find all the Iceworks synth apps to be fun to make sounds with.

I keep getting attracted to GR16 at times then feel it’s missing something, so I think I’m really going to like GR2…..hopefully!

I wish I could dig deep into GestrumentPro as I’m sure I’m missing out on something wonderful there.

Koala and Loopy Pro are my tops for most satisfying apps. They don't make the top of my list of just purely fun only because when I'm working in them then I'm quickly inspired into "making some music" mode.

Sector and Relic Flow are just pure fun. I rarely get to "I'm going to make something out of this" with those, but I do always have a stupid grin on my face. My wife has to come look over my shoulder to be sure I'm not watching porn or something.

Reading a great book vs. picking up the funny pages.
(I just realized you have to be pretty old to even know what the funny pages are anymore. 😂)

For fun, as opposed to sitting down and making proper music, my go to apps usually include a decent randomiser, so I can muck about hitting the random button until I come up with something interesting to tweak and possibly save as a preset, so:

    FRMS
    Elastic Drums
    Synthscaper
    Factory
    Egoist

And new today, but definitely has fun potential:

    RingsFX

For sequencing, the old randomiser comes in handy again with:

    Harmony Bloom
    Euclidean
    Octachron
    Riffer

Well, in my opinion if it's fun AND productive, it's a big bonus! If you have other recommendations that are both, I'd gladly appreciate!!

  • Thanks for all the great ideas!

I had RingsFX on the radar as well!

Loopy Pro, I'm waiting for the MIDI release as it will work better woth my workflow. I really liked the trial I did, very intuitive!

I'm a little late for the GR2 party, but I will try it! Looks very promising. I had a lot of fun with my Novation Circuit, so I hope this adds where I thought the Circuit was limited.

I might try farts to get my 4yo into music making.

I'll need to gather more info about Geoshred. I initially brushed it off because of the price, bit I will look into it again!

  • Right now……it has to be my newly purchased Moog Modular 15 with all the sound packs 😀 no chance of getting the garden tidied up for a good while now lol

  • It feels like a copout but AUM is just so damn fun to play with. That and Gauss Field Looper make me so happy.

    A few more faves:

    StepPolyArp
    Thumbjam
    Geoshred
    Koala + Koala fx
    Oneshot
    Wavecloud
    Gauss

  • Grooverider 2 is the most fun I’ve had in a new app in ages. The type of app that’s designed to make hours disappear before you know it.

I agree. Where has my morning gone.

  • Thins that immediately spring to mind:

AUM (kind of obvious, but it makes everything else work in my case)
Solderbox (the more I play with it, the more I like it)
Hilda (I’m still in love with this synth)
    The Relic series
    Fluss
    Gauss
    Stellarvox
    NoInputMixer
    Branches with KB-1
SpaceFields (it’s great put on a send so you can feed it with new stuff now and again)
Beatcutter (for the sheer joy of seeing what it does to whatever you feed it with, particularly when you use its internal feedback patching)
    Rozeta

Less unique, I suppose, is MiRack. Using it in multi i/o effects slots in AUM really opens things up, though.
