Wave Tables

If you can’t find the wavetables go to layer 1 presets on the left…not user… I couldn’t find the wavetables or anything for a minute….

Sequencer

• the only thing that I can’t wrap my head around is “steps” mode – in GR-16 it was called “seq” and we had step sequencer, but in GR2 it appears to do nothing, and steps are always inactive.
whatever, will use it with AUv3 step sequencers.
EDIT: got it – had to go to clip grid, long press on a clip and choose “Edit Clip”

Drum Rack

  • Load the drumrack and then load samples in each slot
  • You select the slots with the drum keyboard mode

Piano Roll Stuff

• Can you copy and paste in pianoroll ? I’m only seeing a pen, select all and a roller, eraser, speaker ?

Yes, Check the little menu next to the quantize button when you've got something selected.

Clips - Also, double tap on empty clip placeholder to make new clip. When in piano roll editor, the menu with 3 lines at the top has useful controls for quickly doubling length of your clip “i.e. Duplicate loop”

How to apply probability to the entire chord, other wise each individual note is randomized at different times.
- THANK YOU @Eschatone and @cokomairena

If you nudge (use shift) one note of the chord slightly ahead, and then set the remaining notes to PREV, you can govern the probability of the whole collective chord by the condition assigned to the slightly earlier note
It gets even better: If you put a !Prev chord or notes right after your Prev chord, it’ll only trigger if the previous one didn’t! Quite a powerful tool for creating random, evolving patterns.
Similar use case with Npar and !Npar - but it only listens to the most recent trig conditions on neighboring parts. (Eg. Only play a drum fill on part 2 when your chord on part 1 activates)

Shift Button

There’s a lot of helpful shift functions in the editor: Shift + the velocity slider will stagger the velocity of your selection. (Great for Hihats velocity ramps) .. Shift + move notes/change length will allow you to ignore snap to grid setting. (or it’ll snap to grid if the snap setting is turned off)

• Holding down shift while adjusting knobs gives a finer resolution.
When you have a selection of notes in the piano roll present holding down shift while adjusting the note velocity ramps the velocity values.

You can also hold down shift and double-tap a knob to enable midi-learn.

Midi Learn

To start midi learn, hold down shift button and double tap any desire knob. Knob will start blinking and enter mid learn mode. When done, tap the top title bar to save changes.

Clips and Song

• (Cyberheater) It would be great to have an easy way to copy clips to song mode
Edit. Select clip, long press, add to song.

• Can’t you apply follow actions to clips like go to start play twice etc like you can in BAM ?
Yeah you can. Tap the little cog at the top right of the clips view.

Layers

•How can i replace a AUv3 synth without deleting the layer?

Don't know but you won't loose any of the IFX settings, note-data etc. when you delete a layer since they are part of the 'Part'.

Samples

• Anyone having any luck with importing sample folders? Only seem to be able to bring in individual samples successfully.

For now using the Files.app is the only option I know of for doing 'batch import'.
Copy the desired folder(s) into the GRII sub-folders (Samples, SoundFonts and WAveTables) using Files.app.

MIDI OUT to another host or gear Hack

• (Samu) I dunno if its useful to anyone, but I was able to get midi out to other hosts by adding KQ Voice plugins Loopback 1 Out as an AUv3 (not AUv3 MIDI) instrument layer. Then in the other host I loaded Loopback 1 MIDI as a midi plugin.

Tips

• I had a crash with koala and solved it just like I do on BM3: delete the part and undo, worked like acharm
