Send MIDI Clock with Microphone?
Hi!
I was thinking if you play with a drummer maybe there is an app that can detect a BPM and send it like MIDI clock?
I bet something like this exists on PC/MAC.
There are tap devices you can give your drummer for correction, but even better if doing it through the mic of a basssrumm or snare could do it

I did some experiments with Drambo. The idea is to create a midi note on every click, boom or bang. The note is mapped to the tap tempo function of the host. https://patchstorage.com/click2note/
Interesting (:
Did you try it? Sounds like it could substitute a tap tempo MIDI pedal. Just slap something next to it to the tempo.
Did you ever get it to a place where it would just work?
I managed to sync Drambo to the clicks coming from a Korg Volca. I have not tried it with a drummer. My guess is that MIDI jitter will be high. If you download the project, then it comes with a test generator. It uses a sample I created from the sync output of a Volca. And you can add interference and noise signals to test stability. My initial intention for this wee project was to be able to sync to a click track when I’m jamming with friends online.
With the current Drambo version you simply add a MIDI output module after Click2Note and set the output to the Feedback MIDI port. And make sure that “control” is enabled for the Feedback port in Drambos settings. Now it’s possible to use MIDI learn to assign the Click2Note output to the tap tempo button.

You won your bet, Ableton has it. From the help site:
How do I activate Tempo Following?
There's a cool demo in thus video at 1:49
FAC Envolver can do the same - send a note to a tap tempo. I know of a live band who said they used it successfully with AUM after I had suggested it several years ago.
Uu @wim nice..
Will try!
(:
Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I might try this out.
I should go back and do a new test too. It was a long time ago and I forget the details.
