Jazz Chorus Guitar Amplifier by Nembrini Audio

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/jazz-chorus-guitar-amplifier/id6740334994
This new amp sim is based on the JC-120 amp by Roland, an amp that' son my wishlist, so I was excited Nembrini announced this. Here's a demo of me playing straight to the iPad running the app.

  • It’s raining Rolands! We just got the excellent JC profile in Gigfast, too. Thanks for the demo. Loved the wobbly bits.

  • Would love to see these options in all the rest of Nembrini’s amps.. mixing 2 mics + their positioning.. yup, one step closer to 1:1 with the desktop apps.. Thanks Nembrini..

Lucky you :) Besides the great clean sound, it also takes stereo effects well.>

And and and, Roland themselves are now releasing this.

Agreed, it adds more sound designing options. And with the double speakers, it's fun positioning 2 different mics in.

  • What a fantastic news !
But even if I'm a fan of Nembrini's amps, I'm wondering something that @flo (and other surely) could eventually answer : Is it worth spending 10€ in another Nembrini (if not only to support development) or, in regard of the quality of Gigfast, go that route and give 45€ to Arteradsp ?

  • I usually only use a couple of my Nembrini apps often, but can say that I do like this one!

To be honest,I was 19 when I have bought this amp.I didn’t really know anything about amps at this time.
But one thing for sure,it did not meet my expectations.
Never been fond of what I call sterile clean sound.
I have sold it not too long after buying it.
I still have a Rivera amp called the S100 which also has a good sounding chorus in it+the cleans and leads sounds are spectacular.
    Much more versatile.
I think I will pass on this one.
I much prefer blackface and brownface clean, crunch sounds.
    Thanks.

It’s an amp for someone that needs a really loud clean amp with lots of headroom. It takes pedals really well … so for distortion one needs to be happy with distortion pedals/boxes. Its built-in distortion is, in my opinion, unusable. I used a tube pre-amp in front of the amp (experimented with a few different models including the ADA MP-1) and a Boss SD-1.

I got it for gigging because the 40-watt tube amp I had couldn’t compete with our bass player’s rig and wasn’t loud enough when we gigged at locales not set up to mic guitar amps.

The chorus is amazing, but as an amp it doesn’t have any special tonal characteristics. Its special qualities were really about that clean sound at high volume. At low volume, it isn’t anything special, imo—and it is hard to play at low volume given how its knobs are setup.

I still have mine. It is great for playing live : sharp crisp clean funk. But I wouldn’t use it for recording.

  • Thanks for your answer @flo ; I was just wondering if keeping on buying Nembrini's amps worth it now that Gigfast, for 45€ lifetime licence, covers many style amps and keeps on growing.

About the JC120 (or 60 which a friend of mine had), I've always wanted to buy one because I was a HUGE fan of The Cure ! :D
But, at the time I needed a loud amp, I had a JCM800 and not the money to get another amp…

Yes,those Nembrini apps are still worth it to me.
To my ears, his amp sims are still among the best.
    Thanks.

I was always the same. To be honest I just thought I'm not a clean sound guy. And no guitar I owned made any difference. Then I found an amp that to my ears, had a clean that sounded so good, like a mixed guitar sound to my ears. Who knows, there may be something out there. For me it was a 5153 EL34.

  • Nice!! This will be a “I worked hard all week now it’s time to treat myself” Friday purchase for me.

  • Love this amp but is there a way to get rid of the noise of the amp? I believe it may be the chorus I’m hearing that’s particularly noisy.

  • Picked this up since I'm always looking for variety in clean tones. It's nicer sounding than I expected since I never really liked the sound of the real thing - a bit too sterile. But this is a nice alternative to the Fender clean tones. The chorus is great.

I dig it - nice addition to the digital stable for $10

I grabbed this earlier today because I was hoping it’d be a nice, clean, pristine sound - it’s damn near close, but that noise doesn’t appear to be removable. I’ve tried everything.

It doesn’t ruin it for me though because it’s not very audible in a mix and tbh it’s reminiscent of a little room ambience and/or amp noise anyway so I don’t think it’s that bad.

But it would be nice to have this gorgeous tone available without the noise, for some sections of songs.

Still, this is the best clean amp modeller I’ve tried on iPad, these are exactly how I want my cleans to sound - but I’d love to remove that hiss/noise. It takes FX extremely well, especially distortions - Nembrini’s own Klon emulation is chef’s kiss with it.

I thought it was my wireless system at first, but I tried multiple cables too and it’s present regardless.
You can get around it by using a noise gate - there’s one built into the plugin that works fantastically, it’ll cut that noise out when you’re not playing. You can get it to sound great in a mix this way.

But I’d still love to be able to remove that noise.

I always have Brusfri next to the Jazz Chorus and it's nearly perfect 👍🏻

I hadn't until this morning, and I straight up can't believe how well it works.
It's like some magic trick - Jazz Chorus is the only amp modeller I've got that works best with it after it - because it has it's own noise built in.

Other amp modellers work better with Brusfri before the OD and amp modeller (I guess I could just put multiple instances of Brusfri in, if I wanted to).. because it cleans the signal up before it goes into the OD and amps - this is handy for me because I've got a noisy guitar (Tele).

Extremely cool, killer combo, I'll probably throw this on every guitar track going forwards because it'll clean up unwanted bs and provide better recordings for me.

    Love it.
