Loopy Pro - time limited license
Due to a recent developer trend to convert purchased apps to subscription models, and remove features with updates rather than improving them, I’ve stopped updating my iPad apps to basically protect my investment for as long as possible.
My iPad is always connected only to my ethernet (MIDI) network, which is not connected to the internet. I expect all my apps to work without the internet connection for the lifespan of my iPad. But now, after a few months working offline (not sure for how long exactly), my Loopy Pro has lost its purchased status.
Now I’m forced to connect to the internet and “Restore Purchases” to reactivate it again. It may seem like a non-issue. But I worry that if anything materially changes on the developer's side (bankruptcy, change of ownership, change of business model, illness/death…) - the Loopy Pro on our iPads will stop working. To make sure that this isn’t the “App Store bug” referenced in the Loopy Pro wiki, I tried to manually change the clock to 2027 on my second iPad, and the Loopy Pro reverted back to the unregistered version.
I would like to know why this time limit is hardcoded, what the exact duration is (how long can we stay offline), and is this a feature or a bug?
Thanks

This isn’t an intentional timeout. The unlocked features depend on when the license was purchased. Loopy relies on some data the App Store provides at purchase time that turns out to need refreshing. In 2.0, a new method will be used that hopefully solves this problem.
That's good news. Thanks for clarifying.
