Mozaic: SwarmScaler - synchronised multi instance scaler for multiple tracks (GR 2 tested)

edited February 8 in Patch Sharing

Load an instance of this script into each track and enable “Listen” and “Broadcast”. Changes of scale, root note or preset on one instance will propagate to the others (when a note arrives).
Currently only WhiteKey and Control modes work:
WhiteKey mode is for easy playing or input from a C or Am scale locked piano roll (in GR 2 for example).
In Control mode the notes CDEFGA switch the preset so you can use a dedicated track to sequence key changes.
Press and hold a Preset Pad to use the top knobs to set scale and root.
Tap a Preset Pad to load the preset.
Tap “Enter” to immediately activate the selected root/scale combo.

  • I'm curious to know how the “Listen” and “Broadcast” features work across instances....

I wasn't aware you could have that kind of communication between mozaic instances.

I wasn't aware you could have that kind of communication between mozaic instances.

Mozaic offers a set of global variables GLOBAL0, GLOBAL1,… these can be accessed and set from any Mozaic instance running inside the same host.
The “Broadcast” function sets these variables and increments GLOBAL0 to notify the other instances of a change.
With “Listen” enabled the SwarmScaler instance checks GLOBAL0 for changes whenever a NoteOn event arrives. In case of a change the instance updates its settings before processing that NoteOn event and then sending the note.

@catherder I have done a lot of mozaic programming and had never thought of using the global variables in this way.
    Nice.

I have a chord progression generator and a quantise to chord notes script that would benefit from this approach.

Will have to give it a go. Thanks for sharing.
