Digistix 2 Drum kit Backup is password protected?
Hey Folks! I have taken the time to create a Reggae Drumkit for Digistix 2. I recorded samples from a “wet roots” reggae drumkit out of EZ drummer, Chopped them up using Koala, and then built a multi-layered kit for DS2. All good so far.
I wanted to share this kit with a friend, but the backup file is password protected- it wont even let me attach it to an email. I have no Idea what password this might be- it’s not my IPad or Apple ID pass, and I can’t think of any other password associated with DIgistix 2. Surely it must be possible to share User drumkits with other Digistix 2 users?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks
-Zach

Is the extension of the backup file .dkit? If so there is no need for the password and it should be possible to email it, although you may want to zip it since some apps will restrict attachments based on the extension, but not usually.zip. When you perform a restore it will prompt for the backup file and you just point to it. I’ve done it myself. Important to note, however, I believe a restore will overwrite the entire user bank - see the help in the app for more info.
Huh- yes the backup file is a .dkit file. But it definitely wants a password to do anything with within the Files browser. On my end, I was able to find it using the “restore” function within Digistix 2… But my Gmail app definitely would NOT let me attach it to email. I did try to compress it to a zip file and that I was able to send via email- I will see if It is usable on my friend’s end.
I attached a couple of screenshots of the password screen I am getting within the IPad Files browser.
Yep that’s the file for a drumkit. It should be ok to restore a kit. Restoring an entire bank could overwrite an existing user bank.
AFAIK when you backup a kit from within DS2 it always exports it as a zip file. Password is „dsx2p“.
@Gravity - Nice one - didn't know that - thx!
@Vikingbear - I created a demo video showing the process of exporting/backing up a drumkit from DSX2, and then importing/restoring it, in case it is helpful for you or anyone else who may be interested:
