Dragging and dropping - irregular loops - best practice?
Hi all - first post, go easy!
I am hoping to drag and drop pre-recorded audio files into Loopy Pro and assuming LP doesn't immediately figure it out (which it seems to OK with standard length/speed loops with clear pulse) I want to tell LP how long the file is in bars, and the time signature, and go from there. Of course this is the 1st loop, as once set everything else added will be the same. For example an 11 bar loop in 3/4. I can see that you can set 3/4 before dropping in the clock settings (can you do this afterwards?), but it then thinks this particular file is 16 bars long - and I can't see an option to change that after dropping in the edit window (right click on the loop). Also - let's say I don't know the tempo (or it's not a round number) as it is a file played by a human. What's the best way to go about this? Sorry if it's really obvious - I'm pretty new to this interface.
Thanks in advance

If the beats per measure is set, adjust the original tempo in the import window till the number of bars are what you want. There isn’t currently a direct way to set the bar length.
Hmmm - ok thanks - that seems like it could be a feature as in this case I know the number of bars and beats just not the tempo - maybe I'll request it (likely I'm the only person who would want it though!)
If you set it in the clock settings before you drop the file in, it does an OK job it seems if you have an even number of bars if it's not 2/4 or 4/4 - I tried it with 11 bars of 3/4 and it truncated it to 10. 10 bars of 3/4 it thought was 20 - in this case I had to know the exact tempo and once set to that it was fine. Files with an 'unknown' tempo (that is recorded freehand) are more problematic - the setting beforehand method doesn't seem reliable so all I want to do is just tell it the number of bars and beats but as you say, not currently an option. I guess some 'pre-conforming' of loops in some other place would help!
Unless someone knows another way.....?
@thirdspace : have you tried my suggestion? As you adjust the original tempo dial, you will see the number of bars/beats adjust. Continue adjusting till it matches the bars/beats you have used n mind.
I believe there is a request for direct entry of the clip length in the roadmap site . Find it and upvote it. If you can’t find it, add a new request.
Yes - thank you - much appreciated. I will search and upvote 👍
