MIDI Messenger Issue.....or is it Me?
Hi,
I have FAC Envolver sending MIDI note messages to MIDI Messenger. This plugin "watches" or "listens" for a message, and upon receipt - can send out a different message, multiple messages of about any kind/type. It can consume or let the original (what is received or triggers it) or let it pass thru.
SO.... I have it set to receive a MIDI note messages from FAC Envolver, to consume it (not let it pass thru), and then.... to use the incoming MIDI note messages - to trigger an outgoing MIDI note message. [PLEASE - ignore the fact that I could have FAC Envolver send it directly... it's more complicated]
I am using MIDI Monitor to "observe" or monitor what MIDI Messenger is sending - and it "seems" that it is sending out the wrong thing.
Any Thoughts?
Thanks
AJ

@Vmusic : note number 36 is not as C note you are matching against. It looks like you set up midi messenger to trigger on C-2 (probably note 0 ) and D-2 (probably note 2)
Note that octave numbers don’t have a standardized meaning. So always check to see what note number corresponds to what octave number in the apps/plugins you are using.
Also, don’t forget about yhe note offs.
@espiegel123 Thanks for looking.
The note being sent from FAC Envolver to MIDI Messenger was not the note I thought it was, and not the note I set up as the trigger.
Food 4 Thought: Why would MIDI Messenger send out "anything" if it receives something other than the trigger note, AND it is set to "consume matching". Maybe I'll ask /show the dev and see what he says.
I do understand that each plugin has its own way of showing or letting the user interact to select a MIDI Note (and channel for that matter) This is why I use MIDI Monitor - to see or see more clearly what is actually being sent.
Thanks For Your Help!!!
If you're bored.... check out DJ Scratch Post. I recorded some samples using various distortions, and transit as well.
midi messenger is designed to led midi through unless you block it. For many use cases that is desirable.
@Vmusic : you can set up midi messenger to block all note on or off or ccs or… by adding lines for that.
It is a simple elegant solution that simplifies the programmers job…pretty reasonable for a free app
@espiegel123 I know, it's a GREAT app. I actually gave the dev some $$ through his Patreon.
