Relative Newb: iOS & USB Hub question
Im trying to get a few pieces of gear to talk to each other and having limited success.
The pieces:
- iPhone 15 Pro Max running the latest version of iOS.
- Loopy Pro running on the iPhone
- Sabrent HB-UM43 4-port USB 3.0 hub (powered)
- Katana Go
- Akai MPK Mini MK2 to run Synth One or similar.
When connected directly the phone, the Katana Go and MPK work as expected. Loopy Pro also sees them and operates as expected.
When connecting the hub to the phone, and the Katana Go and MPK connected to the hub……nuttin’.
What am I missing and or doing wrong?
Comments
That's not a powered hub from what I can tell. It has individual port power switches, but no external power input. My guess is the iPhone isn't putting out enough power to run both the Katana and the Mini at the same time.
Does it work if you plug only one or the other into the hub?
While images may not show it, there is a 5v jack on one side and I’m using a 5v wall-wart.
Ahh, ok.
What are you using to connect the hub to the iPhone? What model iPhone?
15 Pro Max, latest iOS update.
USB C into phone, using an A to C adapter for the hub. (Wondering if this is the culprit)
I may go buy a USB c hub just to see. Can think of anything else.
I figured it out. 😁
The USB A to C adapter I originally used doesn’t pass power. I tried a different one I happened to have and everything worked like you’d expect.
You may not have provided a solution - but our conversation got me thinking.
Sometimes the sounding board is all you need. Much appreciated.
