Converting Pitch to midi cc values in loopy pro

Hi - Does anyone have any idea how I could create a pitch to midi cc in loopy pro?

Basically, I'd like to plug in a guitar, then convert the pitch to a midi cc value that I can then use to modulate an external synth (and/or Visuals with midi control).

I've tried doing this with MiRack as an audio insert plugin in Loopy Pro, then I route input audio to a pitch to cv module, then out via the cv to cc module.

I can only get an audio input in MiRack when I use it as an effect insert, and it doesn't send any midi when used like this. Unless I'm doing something wrong?

Any ideas welcome!

Cheers, Chris

If you want to send MIDI from a miRack module loaded as an AU effect or instrument, use Add MIDI in Loopy’s mixer to add the already loaded instance as a MIDI source. Once loaded as a MIDI source you can access the MIDI

  • Let’s say we have Drambo and Dagger loaded as AU instruments and FAC Envolver loaded as an effect as shown in this picture:

If I choose Add MIDI, you will see both Drambo and FAC Envolver listed at the top with a circled letter. This means that those are already loaded instances that can send MIDI

Choosing them adds them to the mixer as MIDI sources.

Ah - thanks for that. That's what I was trying to do, but it didn't appear as a midi source with circled letter - I was using MiRack and I see there's also a MiRack FX as well as a MiRack 16 Channel, so possible I was using the wrong one? I'll try again later.

  • Yes! The difference was using MiRack FX as the insert rather than the full version. I had assumed that FX was for audio signals only.

    Many thanks!
