Nice! And 30 quid isn't bad for all that it can do.
Agreed! While it will not replace all other EQs (I also enjoy TB EQ Pro) it's a nice tool in the toolbox, especially the spectral functions to shave off some harshness.
This was my first actual purchase for this year...
What I like is the EQ views, where you can compare other instances of Pro-Q4 in one go to take care of clashing frequencies. Time for me to rewatch Dan Worrall's video.
This looks fantastic. What is the impact on the CPU? I mean, displaying several curves looks very heavy on the performances of my old IPad…
Looks pretty sharp. Wonder if Toneboosters will enhance or alter their own EQ Pro in response?
Upgrade price?
Most definitely
Nice addition, this type of processing can work wonders on a track or even the master.
Im a looking to enhance my EQ and will buy the app.
I did just end up settling for this on my drums though lol.
Maybe I will do a tutorial.
Now I really would like to have the possibility to load such AUv3 per track on GR2...
someone here who owns both tonebooster's equalizer pro and this new fabfilter one?
is the fabfilter spectral stuff on it's own in your opinion worth buying it if you own equalizer pro?
If you do mixing and mastering on your iPad, I would say yes. It's even useful just to shape your sound in general too. In short, spectral dynamics gives you very precise dynamics, meaning you can quickly and easily target very specific areas of a sound. I think it's one of the more useful tools to come along in recent years. You could probably get similar results sculpting out your own dynamic EQ shape, but it would take a lot longer and wouldn't be quite as precise.
Is there any information about an upgrade price like for the PC version?
Has anyone bought this and used in Logic or Cubasis yet? I'm curious how well the instances list works on iPad. This looks like a great quality of life improvement, but I'm wondering if this feature works as well on iPad vs the videos I have seen of it on desktop. Does anyone have feedback on this feature?
Works the same as it does on the desktop, here's a few instances in LogicPro for iPad...

Are you using the instance list feature on a regular basis? Do you find those red collision zones helpful in cleaning up the mix?
They are quite helpful when you first select the track that has priority, after that you can 'carve out' the offending frequencies from the other tracks when needed. Naturally I let my ears have priority over the visuals and treat it more like a tool than 'rule book'
Thanks! Looks great.
Hi @Samu
Could you please let me know if you have managed to use the Spectrum grab mode? For me, it doesn't work in Pro Q-4, although it works fine in Pro Q-3.
When you hold your finger on the device screen, a menu appears to control the bands of the equalizer, while the Spectrum grab mode is unavailable.
Sometimes it helps to add an equalizer band or several yourself first, and then try to activate this mode, but it still works randomly and is unusable.
Or I'm doing something wrong.
Works perfectly here you need to have at least one node active (so you can see its controller) after that you can just long-tap on the analyzer to do show the peaks that you can then grab.
So first make sure the controller for one node is visible.

Then long tap on the analyzer (the pop-up will show up while the peaks are generated.

You can dismiss the menu and proceed to grab the nodes
Thanks for the detailed reply!
If I follow these steps one by one, then it works.
But if, for example, after the spectrum analyzer turns blue, I don't grab the nodes, but click somewhere else and then want to start the Spectrum grab mode again, then this no longer works. I have to add/change the node again to make the mode work again.
Or if one node is added, and then I close the project and open it again, then the Spectrum grab mode does not work again, I need to add/modify the node again.
In Pro-Q3, this mode always worked predictably.
I've written to support, let's see what they have to say.
Goodie! I feel they didn't 'think it thru' the interactions when they added the menu to do cut/copy/paste of nodes
(Also when using 'dark mode' the cut, copy & paste options are hard to see compared to the 'light mode').
You might find this interesting: they replied today that they will fix it in a future update, but did not say exactly when.
At the moment, I wouldn't say that it gives me much optimism, based on past experience.
There is a bug in the Twin 3 synthesizer that I reported to them in May last year, but they still haven't fixed it, although they say it's on their list. 🤪
Let's see how they behave in the case of Pro-Q4.
I don't really need this one since TB EQ Pro does all I need but there's something about the Fabfilter apps that just make me want them...
I have all the FF bundles. I cannot justify an upgrade for one app at $30, unless it really does something amazingly better than Q3.
One 'thing' that Really annoys me with Pro-Q 4 is that the 'control panel' jumps around when selecting the EQ points instead of staying still at the center of the screen, it should have a 'pin' to lock the position no matter which EQ point is selected...
I have no energy to reach out to FF as last time they just responded that they would consider making fonts bigger (when I vented out about about visibility in their apps on iPadOS) and then nada...
...if TB Equalizer Pro gets some spectral tools (which are 'unique' to Pro-Q 4 on the iPad) it would be even more bonkers than it already is
