Rode videomic me-c *Plus*

The iPad is a great portable device for music creation, at home I use a focusrite Scarlett as an audio interface, which works great, but not so so portable.

I’ve been looking at the Rode videomic me-c Plus, has anyone had any success with this device with loopy pro or any iPad (or iPhone) DAW? It’s got a mic and a headphone out.

I’ve seen some reports that the ”videomic me-c” doesn’t work with DAWs, but I believe the Plus model is supposed to be more compatible with IOS, and might work better?

So
any success recording with the mic?
does the headphone output work with DAW?
If the headphone output does work, what do you hear, is it just the mic in or is it monitoring the DAW + the mic

Thanks

    Okay, answering my own questions

I got one of these today (NB the PLUS version), and have played with it for about 10 mins - so very eary days, plenty of time for things to go wrong, but nitially looks good.

    • any success recording with the mic? - Seems to work well
    • does the headphone output work with DAW? - Yes
    • If the headphone output does work, what do you hear, is it just the mic in or is it monitoring the DAW + the mic - it's playing the output fro the Loopy Pro - i.e. you can hear both the mic and loopy's audio output

If anyone is interested, I'll update this when I've got more to say.

Can you turn off the direct monitoring of the mic?

    Short answer, no.

Longer answer, no I don't think so.

I'm fairly new to loopy pro, and the ipad, but have been using music SW on the PC for decades, so not a complete novice.

There is direct monitoring happening (hearing the mic input through the headphone output before loopy pro processes it), but for me at least, it seems pretty quiet and not distracting.

The latency of loopy output audio is pretty low on my new-ish m2 ipad air, so that's probably helping a lot.

But I can't find a way to turn it off, the mic doesn't come with any SW.
