Some SWAMs on an album - Te Pneum

With the project Te Pneum (neologism between Te Deum and pneumatic instruments), the bass clarinet, the bass flute, the baritone saxophone and the alto trombone have joined my musical universe and my very special tonal scale ;)

  • This was totally in my wheelhouse! The SWAMS have become my favorite instruments. Sadly, I don't have the bass clarinet; it sounds beautiful. What's your 'special tonal scale'?

Hi @MrStochastic, thanks for the feedback. I hope "totally in my wheelhouse" is somehow meant for "good". 🤭 (not native speaker).
Special tonal scale - that was meant to be self-deprecating, not specific: I know more people who say they get headaches from my music than others who think the music is ok.😅

    Sorry to be obscure.
“in my wheelhouse Is an idiom to convey that something is within their area of expertise or aligns with their skills and interests. Related expressions include "right up my alley”. The phrase "in my wheelhouse" has multiple origins but is most commonly associated with baseball and nautical terminology.”
    Ha! no headaches for me.

  • Really enjoyed the album. Reminded me very much (in a good way) of the early John Surman album Westering Home. Surman plays many of the same instruments, Bass Clarinet, Baritone Sax etc and was a very early exponent of synths, overdubbing etc. Have a listen if you’re not familiar with it. I’d be interested to know if you hear the connection 🙏
Ps particularly enjoyed step bud III, legend 101 and legend 175 intention 👌

@GeoTony : Are You kidding? Of course I am a big fan of John Surman, Private City was an anchor in a difficult time for me then.

Big thanks for the feedback! 🙏🏽

I didn't notice where my preference for some SWAM-instruments comes from. But if you span the arc to John Surman (plus John Lurie/Lounge Lizards), it suddenly makes sense.
