is Tachyon being updated for OSX?

I love this app and even love more that I have a version in OSX but it doesn't seem to be available anywhere for download.

Anyone know what's up with the OSX version and where I can download it?

many thanks,

Greg K.

  • Just played around with Tachyon (version 1, OSX) and find it very inspiring. There something very odd about Wizdom apps. I'm drawn to them and also repelled by them at the same time. They are great concepts, amazingly realized, then it feels like there is no attention payed to them by their "parents". Probably just me...

No, you're not alone. I feel the exact same way. I have fallen in love with SampleWiz over and over again and I have to ask myself; why do I stop using it? It's an amazing app, yet somehow it always slips away. Must be his wizard spells drawing us in

  • what is it that you don't like about samplewiz or what do you wish it did, I'm asking cause I've been considering it?

  • That's my point...I love it! I have no idea why I ever stop using it! It is hands down an iOS musicians essential arsenal application in my opinion. If we didn't have the cloud's ability to re-download, I'd buy it again. There is something that I can't quite put my finger on but I, like mister gkillmaster, thought I was alone. I'll invesigate my "feelings" a bit further soon and dutifully report back!

  • :) please do.. I don't take these kinds of insights lightly, frankly I'm wondering if I already have experienced whatever the variable is cause this is an app that I should have already had long long ago, keep looking into it and for some reason I don't pull the trigger, it's weird.

  • ok, here's my take. The apps, when they first came out were pricey relatively speaking. So, you kinda wait a see a bit and soon you realize they have no intention of selling it for less. That's ok cause its probably worth it. You look at it and the colors of the interface are in your face bright. (for me, they remind me of my tie dye t-shirts) In and of itself, not a big deal but kinda make me feel a little cold. Like when Stroke Machine first arrived. Ultimately, no big deal and doesn't affect functionality. And then you see Jordan doing his thing. Respect for him. Amazing human. But after a bit more, you get the feeling the apps development has stopped there. Updates becoming more infrequent. Maybe the apps are all they should be but you get the feeling that they are not going to change much. Which is probably find since they are so great to begin with. Then along comes an app like Samplr and it feels warm and cozy and is beautiful. And the developer responds personally and its being improved and you like that. And in your mind there sits SampleWiz in the corner and you think about the team that developed it and they are onto something new and something else and you feel the app feeling abandoned. And the price it still the same. You've never seen it go on sale. And you are inundated and pleased by individuals creating super forward leaning apps as well and responding on this forum and it all feels more local and cozy. The tools exist and are still extremely useful but in your subconsious mind, because they are not attended to, they are seen as a thing from the past. I kinda felt this in myself when I went to find an update version of Tachyon for OSX and could not find a single mention or link to the original OSX app. Anywhere. I spent a lot of time searching online using google. I'm convinced there is no place to download it anymore. Not to mention an update for it. I felt it has been dropped for something new but it has so much potential. Why was it abandoned? Or has it been?

  • mmhmm mmhmm, ad to that that right before Samplr came out that I had a back and forth with the dev working with Jordan on sample whiz and asked them to put in some of the features that Samplr has, and the answer was no,

I'll get even more blunt. I've never bought a Wizdom app, because every demo I've seen for any of these apps sound like the kind of noodling I don't like...and like the playing belongs in a Dream Theater song. All fair play if you're marketing to that audience only. But if they want a wider audience, they've done a poor job of reflecting that aspiration. On top of that, I've also been extremely put off by the designs. It's a very specific 80's aesthetic which I never shared (incidentally, I always liked the look of Stroke Machine and felt it a very different use/aesthetic of color).

  • Yup, that's it ^^ +1 @gkillmaster and +1 @CalCutta

The 80's aesthetics, super pitch bends and mod-wheelies everywhere, no sales (not that big of a deal because they ARE worth the money, but..you know, the principle), zero updates unless they are absolutely mandatory, and his narssiscitc cartoon shoved down our throats...that is why I keep deleting the apps.

I love SampleWiz it's simply just an annoying app
