Audiotune name being changed 😮
Hey everyone,
Antares sent us a friendly note saying they believe AudioKit Audiotune is too close to their copyright. So, we’re handing the app back to the original creator, Coda Labs, who will rename it to stay in the clear. He’s the only one with the source code, and don’t worry, it’s not getting scooped up by a venture firm.
These two emails were next to each other in my inbox 🤣

Companies send letters like this all the time, but they rarely sue as they don’t have much of a legal standing to insist on the name change as they have to prove there was intention to copy their name, which is not actually that easy to do.
I was working for a statup company in the late 90s, and a large corporation started sending these letters. They got a copyright attorney’s advice and she said file them away and ignore them unless they actually file a complaint through the court system, which they almost never do. She also said don’t respond to the letters either, as you are under no legal obligation to do so.

Years ago an old mate of mine successfully fought off red bull (in court amazingly) when they came after his vodka brand (red wolf).

Lol! Well we're all different mate. One cuppa in the morning usually does it for me. On rare occasion, a second cuppa. And I mean a cuppa for me = a pint of coffee. 😂
