  • It's pretty nice actually!
All kits have sounds from B1-B3 (not all of the sounds can be accessed using the on-screen pads even though they have x/y zones).

Sure there's no multi-out nor midi-out from the pads but still as a 'free' update it's appreciated! :sunglasses:

  • You have to purchase it in Module to use in Gadget? I see now that in Gadget this gadget produces no sounds...

  • Update module then install it in gadget and the stock sounds should show up in gadget for free. did it for me.

It’s free but you need to update Module first. I had the same issue but updating module did the trick

  • Always excited to get new gadgets from Korg, especially when they are free :)
Gonna check this out right now.

Gonna check this out right now.

The real surprise was that there's even more sounds per kit (Notes B1-B3) that can't be accessed by playing the UI :)
I might even grab the extra drum-sound IAP later on as I've not bought that many apps this year...

I didn't wanted to reinstall Module so I set Gadget to reinstall only Module Gadgets and not it works

I noticed that too, clap on D#2, etc. Snare ‘pad’ does light-up when clap is played, so would prefer to be able to trigger it on the leff side of that ‘pad’ (as they’ve done with the rimshot on the right side).
So it’s a total of 25 sounds per kit, right?
There’s also a new Amp Simulator in the Modulation fx. Unfortunately that doesn’t show up in the other Module gadgets.
“Wild Kits” IAP sounds good too.

  • Dang, these are some really good drum sounds!

  • Sounds good!

Unavailable in korg module or gadget. No updates available for either. Uk.

I won’t be reinstalling any apps.

Edit: I was going to delete this but worth mentioning. I went into the App Store and it used to show update for an app you own that needs updating , now it just shows open. You have to actually go to the app page for it to show update. iOS is such a mess now from constant fiddling

    Multiple samples, round robins?
Or is it just another robotic sounding gadget, like Gladstone?

Never mind, just saw the video. Very nice surprise!

  • First time I've gone for a new Module pack in a while! I like the UI in Gadget better than the one in Module tbh, but it sounds great, really nice kits.

I probably miss something. I have Korg Module in free version, 5.0 (327) and there is no Drums category like in the video above. If this new drum module is free how can I download it?

I believe you need an IAP in Korg Gadget to have access to the drums - see the notes on the Korg website referenced below. I have Korg Module (not the Pro version) with the Korg Essential Complete IAP, and they showed up for me right after the update, but I can't definitively say what might happen with other configurations.

    Here's the relevant section:

    KORG Module
    Version 5.0.0 New Features

    • Added a new drum module.1
    • Added a new expansion sound library "Wild Kits" for the drum module.
    • Enabled compatibility with KORG Gadget 3, allowing the use of the "OSAKA" gadget.
    2
    • Expanded maximum polyphony, now configurable up to 256. *3
    • Various other tweaks have been made to improve stability.

*1 Available only when you purchase the Essential Library.
*2 Available only when purchasing Essential Library and unlocking functions.
*3 Increasing the polyphony may cause noise on certain devices depending on their performance. If this occurs, please lower the polyphony setting.

I guess for the record I'll point out that the AUv3 for Module Pro provides a much more gadget-like UI for the drum module.

Thank you Ed! I had no idea that I have to search this new drum module under Essential category in the Korg Store (for approx $5 now)

  • Wow, thank you very much, Korg!

The drums do sound good but it's unfortunate the new gadget doesn't show up as an independent Audio Unit.

I don't think any of the Module instruments do, do they? Just Module itself.

ETA: confirmed. None of the "gadgets" that are derived from Module show up as AUv3's on their own.

I'm curious what would that add vs. it being available in the Module AUv3?

I just like being able to load them as independent instruments, with their full UI, in hosts like AUM.

It's true, you don't get the 3D drums view in the AU.

If it had midi out, I think I'd actually use that 3d drum kit for finger drumming. Without it, I doubt I'll be using the interface for anything other than auditioning sounds.

It drives me nuts though with them all the same icon and me having to remember which city name goes with the plugin I want. I'd prefer them all rolled into one app myself.

    Thanks, I was just curious.

  • I have to admit that the same-icon thing drives me nuts.

  • @garden said:

Unfortunately there's nothing they can do about it due to the way the released them as a package. All the apps in a package can only have one shared icon. But, add that to there being no association between the names and the apps, and its whack. 😂

Too late to re-think now though. 😎

I prefer the gadget-like interface too. Also available in Module by selecting 2D

Yeah, I'm interested in the "Wild Kits" too, and was hoping someone here had tried them out. They offer a demo.

    KORG says:
"This is a high-quality sound library that adds two drum kits designed for funk, jazz, and rock. The first is the "VOX Telstar 2020 Kit" that uses modern technology to bring back the sounds of this legendary VOX drum kit from the 1960’s. It delivers a warm midrange and a rich vintage texture for an authentic, nostalgic feel. The second, the "Sakae Evolved Kit", is refined to suit modern music. Unlike standard drum kits, it features a punchy, solid sound that stands out in all types of rock and pop."

  • @telecharge ‘Wild Kits’ IAP is good imo. Doug did a demo of all kits.
But in general I guess best way is to check it out yourself through the free trail.

  • I wish this had midi out. It's kinda nice to play from app UI's like this from time to time, but of less use if you can't record the midi.

Anyway, I'm pretty pleased to have this as a lighter weight alternative to OneShot for some quick acoustic drums.
