What Does Mute Do?
Hi,
Does muting an audio bus channel actually disable any/all the plugins on that channel?
Does muting an audio bus channel acting prevent or mute any audio input into the channel?
What about an audio unit input running a synth - will muting the audio unit channel actually prevent the synth from running or processing if, for example, I am playing the mute with a keyboard, but I have audio unit channel on mute.
The word "mute" implies by definition simply stopping sound output; and NOT necessarily changing or interfering with whatever is generating or modifying the sound.
Thanks!!

If you mute an AUv3 instrument’s channel , the instrument is idled and because it is idle, all the effects on the channel will go idle (unless you disabled idling).
On a hardware input channel, muting a channel is post-fader by default and won’t automatically idle effects. Long-pressing the mute button lets you set the mute to be at the input which will idle effects when the channel is muted.
