Unrounded insert, substitute, sustain overdub - Echoplex/Mobius functions

Hi, I'm learning LoopyPro, shockingly powerful and flexible.
I'm coming from the old days of hardware rack loopers, then moved to Mobius on laptops and now considering working on iPad, which is the reason that brings me to LoopyPro.
One of my goals is setting up the actions in the subject to control them via midi, but I'm having a hard time understanding where I can find and manage such settings.
Thank you for your help and patience,
Luca

Can you describe the echoplex/mobius modes you mention?

  • thank you for asking, both Echoplex and Mobius offer several different options for Insert and Replace, that go beyond those I will mention, I'm focusing on those I'm looking for:

Insert= this command (usually assigned to a momentary midi event) allows you to lengthen the loop by recording new audio within its boundaries
Replace= in this case the midi event (also usually assigned to a momentary midi event) is recording the new audio while erasing the content of the loop without changing its length
These two commands are available with different form of quantization related to the length of the loop. I need them to have no quantization.

Sustain overdub= a simple overdub which is assigned to a momentary midi event

    Thank you,
    Luca

Insert and replace, not quantized like the oldies is needed here too.!🙏

  • @Lucal : insert recording isn’t available.

Substitute and what you call sustain overdub are both available. They are both overdubbing (which is recording into a clip that already contains audio). To substitute , you set the clip’s overdub feedback parameter to 0 for what you call sustain, overdub feedback is set to 100 (the default)

See this wiki page for more about overdubbing:

    https://wiki.loopypro.com/Overdub

You can set up widgets and gestures c and mldi bindings to perform with or without quantization.

If you haven’t read it yet, I recommend reading Loopy’s manual. There are quite a lot of video tutorials out there. There are links to some tutorials here

There are many more to be found on YouTube

  • thank you @espiegel123
I was sure these functions were existing, I just couldn't find them in the universe of the available options.
Yes, I spent some hours watching tutorials already, but I haven't found the one showing what I was looking for. When diving in different loopers is easy meeting different nomenclatures for the same functions, which gets you lost, in translation :-)

Sorry to hear insert not being available, it's beautiful changing length to loops and make them phasing and crashing against each other.
