Having trouble with AUM's Fullscreen Mode (for plugins) [SOLVED]
Selected this mode but can't get out of it (need to access Save on top of normal window).
A little Restore button does appear very briefly at the top left, as the Manual notes, but it when touched or swiped it just disappears.
Leaving AUM on perpetually for now so as not to lose an hour's work configuring the app, lol.
Anybody else have this trouble and/or know how to get out of it?
Thanks!

Swiping down from near the top right corner of the screen should do it. Similar to how you swipe if you want to see iOS control center, but slightly in from there. Tbh I don't find the implementation at all ideal, as I often accidentally access control center when I'm just trying to exit full screen, but that's how it is
I tried and tried that zillions of time before, and now again, lol...
From the top I can get the Control Center, or slightly over and all across, Time and Weather. AUM Navigator appears from the side, but exiting Full Screen for the life of me is still beyond my grasp.
Argh; wish I had your magic fingers haha
Slightly in -maybe I'm misunderstanding what that means?
Yikes. Swipe down from a point maybe just about 3 or 4 centimeters in from the top right corner of the iPad screen. BTW - if you quit AUM will you really lose anything? If you quit and open again, you'll have the option to reload last session, right?
Can quit AUM, but the plugin I assume would return still with Fullscreen Mode? Will try that though.
3-4 cm just getting Time and Weather...
Yep, still Fullscreen after quitting/restarting AUM...
I do occasionally get the Restore and Close buttons to appear on the top, but no matter what I do Swiping or Clicking they just disappear.
The similar Show/Hide keyboard function at the bottom works fine every time.
That feature is an AUM setting, Fullscreen Exit.
I normally wouldn't care and would just start a new session, but in this case I did about an hour's worth of work in the app that is fullscreened that I prefer to Save. Bleh...
So how does a person exit if they haven't enabled it? 🤣
And what's the name of the setting where it isn't enabled? 'fk u bro'? 😂 There must be a way he can get out, right?
You have 2 options. Swipe, swiping down from the top (middle right) exits fillscreen. Buttons, swipe in from the right side to view the Navigator, and touch the "eye" icon to hide the fullscreen. Took me a while to figure this out.
-hahaha
I can get Navigator, and have touched the Eye.
The app disappears, but when I click it again to open in in its lane it unfortunately returns Fullscreen.
What's even more frustrating is I would like to say "AUM sucks" right now...
But it doesn't suck; AUM is one of the greatest apps of all time...
Tried the Eye again to go into Settings, where you can select under Exit Fullscreen either Buttons or Swipe.
Hasn't worked for me yet but still trying.
Restore and Close use to appear when Exit Fullscreen was set to Swipe (two options: Swipe or Buttons) but they just disappeared if they were touched or swiped; now I don't see them at all. I presume those are the "Buttons"?
Just discovered if Show Status Bar is on in Settings, and Exit Fullscreen is set to Swipe, Close and Restore appear at the top of the Fullscreen Window, and now they don't disappear almost as soon as they are touched but remain persistently (as if mocking me, hahaha) -but they don't do anything. If Exit Fullscreen is set to Buttons, Close and Restore seem to be inaccessible?
Yay, success; I clicked an icon in the app at the very bottom left that looked like a British flag, which exited me from Fullscreen and allowed me to Save my work. I think it appeared after the following process:
Swiping the right side and opening Navigator to temporarily close the app.
In Menu, Settings, under Exit Fullscreen, selecting Buttons.
Opening the app in its lane, there appears an Icon that looks like a British flag on the bottom left (it is not there when Exit Fullscreen is set to Swipe -I just checked by doing another Fullscreen and going back).
The British Flag Button exits you from Fullscreen mode.
Thanks to both of you for chiming in -it is deeply appreciated.
Those are just cues for the swipe actions: swipe down from the top edge in the right half of the screen to exit fullscreen, swipe down in the left half to "Restore" the window to normal mode. Swiping works for me at about one quarter and 3 quarters of the way along the top edge. Swiping works whether those cues are displayed or not. They are not buttons that you need to touch.
If you enable Buttons instead, the two tiny orange buttons appear on the short side of the screen. They are on the left for me, as shown in the pic.
Also, you cannot disable the fullscreen option; it is a choice you make when changing the view for a particular plugin. Edit: This is incorrect. The Restore button, or swipe down on the left side puts the app back to normal.
@uncledave what do you think of the implementation? Do you think it could be improved? If so, how? Curious to hear your opinion, cheers
"Also, you cannot disable the fullscreen option; it is a choice you make when changing the view for a particular plugin."
Actually I was able to reset it to any of the options again, via the convoluted path described in my last post.
Thanks again guys!!
"Works for me." If you need to view an app fullscreen, you need to find ingenious ways of exiting. Maybe there should be a warning popup: "Entering fullscreen mode. Swipe down from top/Use left side buttons to exit." The wording could be based on the current Setting. Actually, if you Reset Help Hints in Settings, there is a warning popup. Maybe the hints should have been enabled when fullscreen was implemented; maybe they were.
@uncledave I didn't actually know about the buttons thing before this thread. Not quite as pretty but maybe more reliable than the swipe method, thnx
When I go into Fullscreen mode, I see a glyph to leave full-screen mode. I’ve not changed any AUM settings from their defaults
Right. Those are the buttons. They appear on the "short" side of the screen. They're maybe a little harder to notice on a larger screen, like my screenshot earlier.
Can you post a screenshot?
Do you have a case on your phone? Sometimes those things cause havoc with close to the edge gestures.
fwiw .. I’ve been on the beta, using these exit fullscreen gestures for a while now, and it really came down to muscle memory for me to get used to them; I have no issues with them now..
Thanks everyone! As mentioned above I figured out a work-around and the issue is [SOLVED]
In case anyone else has this issue, here is the problem I encountered and the workaround.
Note there was no workaround for me in the Swipe Mode -this may buggy on some ipads IMO
Starting out AUM was set to the Swipe Mode of Exit Fullscreen (in Menu >Settings).
In this mode when trying to swipe from the top, Blue texts (useless for me it turned out) appeared that say Restore and Close -this is where I had problems.
Touching or swiping Restore and/or Close had no effect on my ipad, except those texts, Restore/Close, would disappear immediately with nothing else happening.
This was solved by changing the Fullscreen Mode to Buttons. If anyone needs to do this, here is the procedure:
First step is to open the Navigator, by swiping the right side. This will temporarily close the app that is filling the whole screen.
Then in Menu, Settings, under Fullscreen Exit, choose Buttons.
Opening the app in its lane, there appears an Icon that looks like a British flag on the bottom left (it is not there when Exit Fullscreen is set to Swipe. You can see photos of this icon above, and that sometimes it is very small.
The British Flag Button exits you from Fullscreen mode.
The "British Flag Button" is actually 4 arrows pointing toward the center, a typical icon used in video players to switch from full-screen mode. And the upper button, with the X, restores the window to its normal, smaller mode.
I believe your problem swiping was due to focusing on the "Restore" and "Close" hints. They are not buttons to be swiped; they just indicate which side of the screen does which function. Swiping works if you swipe about 1/4 and 3/4 of the way along the top edge, and you must swipe from the edge.
Glad you've found a workaround, though.
