Are you thinking about having a Stroke?

2 days ago I thought I was having a stroke. Taste and mouth muscle issues. Being a stubborn man, I decided to sleep it off and see what was up the next day. 5am the next day my wife drove me to emergency, both of us fearing the worst. Long story short, it's turned out I have Bell's palsy. Not much fun but whole lot better than a stroke.

My point? Don't wait around like I did. Go to hospital immediately. If it is the big S, the sooner you get there the better chance you have of minimizing the damage.

Even with my Bell's palsy diagnosis, it matters, that I got there the next day as treatment and recovery are better when started within the first 2 to 3 days.

Just a little pro life public service announcement to look after yourselves.

Thanks. Prognosis is good for recovery. It's more about the eye for me right now. I can't blink the right eye and there is a risk of damage from drying out. Lot's of trial and error between eye drops, patches, taping the eye closed. Plus I look like a freak when I smile. Basically the muscle on the right side of my face won't respond to anything my brain commands. The right side of my tongue is sending very different messages about flavor to my brain. But, again, this is a good outcome.

But the main point is that I was lucky despite my casual response to seeking medical advice. I'd recommend to take it more seriously than I did.

Definitely understandable. Hopefully things keep on improving. Glad you did eventually get the issue diagnosed, even if it wasn't as soon as it should've been.

    Rooting for you, mate. 💪

Thanks! That's really nice of you to say. I'll be trying to get back to normal asap.

  • Hope you get better soon ♥

  • Eye patches remind me of my childhood, I had corrective eye surgery, wasn’t nice, so you have my deepest sympathies, hopefully you have a speedy return to health.

  • Thanks to both of you @knewspeak @richardyot

Early days yet so I'm hopeful. What I've read give me little idea of recovery time but I'll be doing my best to get over it.
