I Walk Beside You (Strike) (BBC TV theme tune)
A few people here might have watched the BBC series Strike - a detective drama based on the books of Robert Galbraith (JK Rowling writing under a pseudonym). Whilst I enjoyed it the shows, what really struck me was the theme tune, which was originally performed by Beth Rowley.
I decided to do a cover and expanded it a little…

Great work Bill.
I enjoy the TV series and I’m familiar with the theme tune… this is a tremendous version.
Love the switches from heavy rock / electric guitar to the acoustic and a lovely gentle ending.
Also I think your voice is sounding better than ever on this one 🙏
I started listening not knowing what to expect and wow. Love the guitar and the whole arrangement. It definitely has a movie vibe and my first impression was of a spaghetti western— sort of. Must be those bluesy guitar licks.
I’m dying to know what software tools you are using to make this and the other projects on your Soundcloud.
Really impressive work.

Thanks you very much - I think one of things that makes this song memorable is that the writers used some clever chord progressions. It also meant the lead guitar parts had to weave around these chords to make them sound natural. The main progression is Cm, Eb, Ab, F, Dm, Am, Ab, Eb, Cm, Gm, Eb, Bb, Cm.
@McD The orchestral parts were done using a free desktop VST - Sonuscore's The Orchestra Elements.
I'm away from the studio at the moment but I played the guitar parts on a Strat, I believe through Neural DSP's Archetype: Petrucci VST amp sim. The last one in the FX chain is the free Polyverse Wider plugin which is also available on iOS.
The song was mastered using Izotope's Ozone, but my aim is always to get the pre-mastered mix as good as it possibly can be so that the master is doing as little of the work as possible.
If there any particular elements of the production you're interested in please ask!
