Sampletank/Cubasis/Audiobus Questions

edited November 2014 in General App Discussion

Can you send midi notes from Cubasis into Sampletank? I thought I had managed to do this before, but get no sound from Sampletank. I can get it to work with Thumbjam, but Midi Monitor does not list a midi input for Sampletank. I already have midi controllers and background audio turned on in ST. Strange......

Also, if I set up ST as source in Audiobus with Cubasis as destination, ST plays OK with the on screen keys, but if I use an external keyboard (iRig Keys) I get lots of missed and hanging notes. I have about 4gb free space and no other apps open. I'm using IOS 7.1 on an iPad 4 and am nervous about upgrading to 8.1. I also have the latest versions of ST, Cubasis, and Audiobus, and have rebooted recently.

I'm trying to use Cubasis to create midi that I can use to play electric piano in ST to make up for my lack of keyboard skills.

Any help greatly appreciated!

This was a puzzle but I got it to work. Set Cubasis to route midi out to Virtual Midi and your desired channel rather than using the named port.

  • That's great! Thanks!

Now to work out why ST won't work in Audiobus with Cubasis....

  • That is AudioBus in my pic. works fine. St in input Cubasis in out. In Cubasis creat an audio track and route it from Audiobus, ST.
Then create a separate midi track with no instrument and route the midi as shown.

  • Thanks again TedBPhx.

However there still seems to be an issue with ST dropping audio notes in Audiobus. IK have asked on a another thread (ST/Loopy) for a ticket to be raised.

  • I make some video , cubasis and sample tank on iPad air.

  • Thank you very much, hiziriichiro! I don't speak Japanese, but there was enough 'Cubasisenglish' in your second video to follow along.

Thanks @hiziriichiro ! Something very reassuring and confidence-inspiring in the tutorial (and no, although I have spent a good amount of time in Osaka and Kyoto, I speak no Japanese either... :)

  • Great video hiziriichiro! You can really wail on the guitar.

  • Virtual MIDI is broken in the current version of Sampletank. IK is aware of the problem and are in the process of fixing it.
