  • Very nice Dave.
    Great groovy track.

  • Thanks, my man 😉👍

  • Smooth as silk. Nice one, Davey.

  • “The groove is strong with this one” - Yoda

  • Not really my music but I kept listening as I discovered my mouth were making smiles (or attempts to).
I liked the flute early on. Well produced. Video was fun too.

Appreciate the feedback, folks. Glad you dig it, and that it made @Pxlhg 's face do smile-like motions.

A classic-sounding throwback to the 70s, marrying Jazz with a pretty funky beat. This is wonderful! :) Of course my usual question I ask folks is - which iOS DAW did you use for this production? Further questions - were the instruments live recorded in said DAW, or did you use a soundbank or two? :)

Also, welcome back mate How've you been lately?

    All good questions.

I used Cubasis 3 for all tracks.
Most performances were as live as possible - generally I shoot for complete takes, but if I'm struggling then I'll stitch it together. I always try to perform over program, with the exception being the drums for obvious reasons.
The only physical instruments are the bass and guitar, everything else is iOS.

I've been good - how are you?

Yes! Cubasis 3 ftw! 😎 (I love Cubasis 3 the best out of all currently available iOS DAWs.)

That's incredible! Yeah, I tend to program more than perform myself, but if we both went about music creation the same exact way, what a boring world it would be.

Anyways, which sounds did you use? Did you use Iconica Sketch, Halion, an external rompler? Do spill the tea, my friend. :)

The only physical instruments are the bass and guitar, everything else is iOS.

    Very well performed!

I've been good - how are you?

Very good here too. Taking a small self-decided hiatus from music production for the time being. Taking time to dabble more into traditional cartooning (pencils and inks and coloured pencils rather than digital) and learning how to use oil pastels to paint scenes with. So far this visual art journey has been fun.

Well, I have a Gibson SG for the guitars and the bass for this track was my Kala U-Bass (ukulele bass). The guitar amp was probably Faceman as that was what I used before Double Reverb came out. I have some OwnHammer IRs that I like to use with the Nembrini amps.

For apps - drums were programmed using DigiStix2, dumped to a MIDI file and further edited and tweaked. The Rhodes is VTines, the Hammond is Hammond B-3x, the flute is SWAM Flute. I've forgotten what I used for the clavinet and the synth solo as this tune was finished nearly 2 years ago - I use Model D6 now, but this was done before that was out... The synth is probably Zeeon since that's generally my go-to. There's a Moog Model D filter sweep in there under the B section.

I use lots of Lunar Lander as that's my favorite reverb on iOS. Typically I use Kleverb for the drum/room reverb. Drums are run through MixBox for compression and extra punch, as is the entire mix to get some faux mastering. Bass is punched up with Medusa, but this may have been completed before THAT was out as well...

I've moved the project of my iPad to save space so I'm going off memory here.

That's awesome though to read about your processes and such. Even if by memory. I definitely need to dig into SWAM instruments more someday as the physical modelling sounds superb! Just ungodly expensive for me personally at this time. Ymmv. ☺️

I have been toying with the idea of starting an Instagram for my art, but do I really need the headache of having another social media account? 😂

And from what I heard last, DeviantArt allows art to be fed into AI generators. Can't recall if that was true, a rumour, or regarding some other art site.

But here is a sample of me testing two cheap oil pastel brands.

Despite me being a novice to traditional art, I do know Blick's Essentials oil pastels (sphere on the left) are a bit rubbish. Faber-Castell student grade oil pastels (sphere on the right) are superior as far as beginner oil pastels go.

Of course once I become a bit more advanced with oil pastels I will invest in Mungyo or some other intermediate brand. I dare not invest in Sennelier oil pastels as of right now because...

    1. I'm still learning the medium.

    2. They're f--king expensive. 😳

That said, I plan to try to make some sort of actual art tomorrow. Might look more like outsider art tbqh, but eh. I want to play with the oil pastels rather than worry about being the next Picasso. 😂

EDIT: F-ck it. I'm going to lean into fully abstract art. I just want to play with the materials rather than try to create something that looks like something. 🤣 Art like this...

Just playing with colours and juxtaposition and etc.
