Darkglass Anagram - best NAM pedal now despite being "for bass"?
As a guitar and bass player, I really like Leo Gibson on YT.
Recently he reviewed Darkglass Anagram:
On it, he plays a lot of guitar. Quite well, I might add.
Here's what Grok has to say, after our extensive convo on the subject:
The Darkglass Anagram is the best NAM guitar pedal for your needs in 2025, excelling in free NAM profile support, very low latency, and continuous parameter handling, despite its higher cost and bass-centric design.
Here’s why:
Free NAM Profiles: Fully supports free *.nam files from ToneHunt and community platforms, loaded via USB-C or the Darkglass Suite app, meeting your requirement with ease.
Very Low Latency: Offers <1ms latency, among the lowest, ensuring a responsive playing experience for live and studio use.
Continuous Parameter Handling: The Anagram’s AIDA-X integration is the best available solution for dynamic, real-time tweaking of NAM profile parameters (e.g., gain, EQ, presence), significantly outperforming standard NAM implementations. While AIDA-X-compatible guitar profiles are less common, the NAM community is expanding these, and the Anagram’s onboard EQ and effects provide robust workarounds for static profiles.
Guitarist Suitability: Though bass-focused, its guitar cab sims, over 50 effects, and flexible signal chain make it highly capable for guitarists willing to load guitar NAM profiles or tweak settings. The 7-inch touchscreen and connectivity (stereo I/O, XLR, USB-C) enhance its versatility.
Trade-Offs: At $1199, it’s expensive, and guitarists may need initial setup time to optimize tones (e.g., sourcing AIDA-X guitar profiles from ToneHunt). However, its AIDA-X advantage outweighs these for your priority of continuous parameter handling.
Any thoughts?

Been enjoying immensely playing Amalgam Audio Captures with York IR inside NAM xt for the last few weeks. It sounds and feels just like playing the real thing.
The Darkglass Anagram looks even more appealing than the Dimehead. I'd love to couple this with my Two Notes Opus, this would be the ultimate ampless rig. But what a price tag... Hoping more people will jump on the NAM train. this could bring more big pedal manufacturers in the game and hopefully bring prices down a bit. Let's dream a bit and f... those stupid tariffs...
For now, I'll use Gigfast Lite. TBH, I should try a few more free NAM profiles on it as well.
I'm always vacillating between iOS, pedals, PA monitors, and just my Quilter combo amp. But it's pretty darn easy currently to have great guitar tone. Playing well is another matter
I just bought gigfast lite during the Easter sales and had the time to open it only once. their parametric amps models sound great but when it comes to loading your own NAM captures, I think NAM xt is a lot more flexible (at least for now). You can load two different captures either in parallel or stacked and you can load two IR. This gives you lots of possibilities from a single amp with 2 mics, to a full dual stereo amp setting.
The config I am enjoying a lot lately is to use one amp as drive/fuzz for another amp by stacking 2 captures in series. In my case I enjoy the swampy sound I can get by sending a cranked Tweed 5E3 (with its fuzzy character) into an edge of break up Bassman or a JTM45.
