Loopy Pro Public Beta is Now Open!
Big day, everyone! I'm making the Release Candidate beta of Loopy Pro 2.0 public, via TestFlight.
This isn't the official final release, but it's very close, and I'd love your help catching any final issues before I throw the big switch while cackling madly.
🚨 Important: Please back up your projects first (using the Files app). The TestFlight version will install over your App Store version — don’t delete Loopy Pro before installing!
If you find any issues, crashes, or even just confusing stuff, I’d love your feedback via Slack: There’s an invite on the landing page if you’d like to join in.
👉 Get started here: https://loopypro.com/2-0-beta (and please read the notes before you begin!)
Thanks so much for helping me get this over the line! And thanks for your patience – I know it's been a long road!
Cheers,
Michael
PS. Do join us on our vibrant Slack server to discuss beta issues/etc, so everything's in one place – makes my life sooo much easier!

Hello! I just upgraded my Loopy Pro version a couple of weeks ago, and I´m also on the beta. However, I cannot get to extend the trial on the beta being that I bought the upgrade a couple of weeks ago.
You should be able to “buy” the IAP in the beta. Is that not working?
I'll try later. Since I'm playing a liveset in two days using Loopy, I reinstalled the AppStore version for now, just to be sure for the gig.
But I didn't try pressing on "Buy" again, was afraid of getting charged again hehe
As Michael mentions on the page he linked to, you don’t get charged.
Congrats, Michael. I just joined the beta, and hopefully, I will be able to contribute something.
Wow I just started really diving into Loopy Pro…this is great news!
Congratulations on all this hard work! Very impressive.
Had my first jam last night with the Beta, works great so far! Everything I’ve always wanted! I knew that adding native midi to loopy would be my ideal workflow, holy crap it’s awesome! The mixer improvements are great! I’ve only scratched the surface but this workflow is just amazing! No more fumbling with different apps and getting distracted and complex settings, it’s all just right there and it works! I had a lot of fun hacking all this stuff together to get what I want, I even considered posting my loopy/Drambo template because I worked very hard and was very proud of it, but it would always have problems or would break down and I’d have to fix everything and it was just kinda awkward… I feel like I’m going to enter a different chapter with the new loopy pro, with all the technical stuff and extra DSP usage out of the way I can focus much more on just having fun and jamming. GREAT JOB!
so far it seems pretty exciting. Quick question.
i know that there is (or I think there is) a PDF version of the loop pro Manuel somewhere online but I can't find the link.
is the user manual in either online or PDF form somewhat incomplete? I can't find anything about handling mini ports, or how to send certain midi channels but not others to destinations. Would that be done now vis the new mix bus?
Maybe a PDF would be easier for me to search, but I'm looking for information which just isn't there or isn't relevant.
thanks advance.
There isn't a PDF version that I know of, but you should be able to generate one from the online page. Some browsers might not fully convert it though, I think I remember reading about someone having that issue.
There are a few ways to get to the midi channel filter settings. One is by tapping the midi icon in the plugin window. The other is to touch the destination or source icon in the mixer.
You can also add sources and destinations from either the plugin window midi icon or from the source and destination rows in the mixer.
Is the information you are looking for here:
https://loopypro.com/manual/#midi-inputs
I added the destination options earlier today

Has there been any discussion about a PDF manual on Slack? If so, was anything decided?
I don't recall any discussion of that, but maybe I just don't remember. The manual is continually being updated, especially right now. A PDF right now would be stale before the ink was dry if you ask me.
There hasn't been a discussion and as the docs are currently actively being revised a pdf would quickly be outdated. You can pring the docs to pdf at any time from the browser.
Also, I love "pring" as a verb. Gonna start using that.
Pring it on!
The online version is just as searchable as a PDF. If you need it offline and making your own PDF with Safari isn't working well, you can add the page to your reading list from the share button. Then you can make it available offline. The page's search box won't work offline, but you can go to the the share button and select Find in Document.
Oh, it's already been puh-roughten! ::included head and finger waggle::
I just wanna give mad love/shouts to all the QoL updates (outside the highly anticipated Midi inclusions)!!
Like the new mixer design and (for me, the most utilized and most unexpected addition imo) snapping plugins to the edges of the screen HHHhhhhhnnnnggggggg
MAJOR workflow enhancers
So much (more!) goodness to be found!!
Wow, congrats on the RC @Michael !
Checking out some of the new and amazing features this morning!
I did send in my first crash report this morning after falling asleep last night with only three apps open ; TestFlight, Loopy Pro, and Safari. Safari had the foreground while I was reading up on some things.
This morning when I woke up, I tapped on Loopy in the app switcher and it crashed.
Congrats @Michael! I barely scratched the surface of 2.0 but the improvements are stellar. Everything works as expected for me. Thank you for putting an app out that brings as much joy to use as this one!
Thanks Michael, this feels very slick and intuitive, your best yet. No issues so far
I'm not sure where to report issues, but I don't think it would hurt to report this one here:
On my iPad Pro 11-inch (M4), dialog text is wrapped within word boundaries, and dialogs seem "cramped".
Have you increased the font-size under display settings or use the iPad in the 'More Space' mode?
These settings can have an effect on text-boxes etc.
Possibly, but whatever I did does not affect any of the multitude of other apps that I use.
I find that my 11-inch display is often a source of text nits for apps on their early TestFlights.
OK, it's worth to check if the settings make any difference as it will help the developers to sort out the issues
I know LogicPro for iPad as one example does weird line-wraps (similar to Your screenshots) when using 120-135% text zoom and in 'More Space' mode layouts can get a bit wonky. I usually use 'per app' scaling of fonts which can be done from the control center with the font widget enabled.
I looked and I don't see anything strange.
FWIW, I've reported 11-inch issues in several other TestFlights over the years, and I've never needed to provide more info about the display settings - so, I don't think that's relevant here even though, as an app developer myself, I think it is a reasonable question, and I'd be happy to provide more info if needed.
Did the same, the text-boxes in LoopyPro don't even respond to system level font-size changes...
...almost every single text-box in the provided sessions has some kind issues with line-breaks
(11" M1 iPadPro, iPadOS18.4.1 here).
Thankfully it doesn't affect the apps functionality but it can get a bit annoying...
@mojozart : if you would be so kind as to submit beta issues the Slack (there is a link to join on the page where the beta sign-up link was) that would be enormously helpful.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone, really glad to hear you like it
The line wrapping stuff is already fixed in my next build which I’ll upload tonight – it’s a casualty of my work preparing Loopy Pro for other scripts like Chinese and Japanese
