I traded my iPad 3 for the new iPad Air 2
I couldn't take it anymore and purchased the new iPad Air 2. I got $200 trade in for my iPad 3 thanks to Best Buy's trade in special.
I'm really impressed so far. Huge difference in speed in every app compared to the iPad 3. Safari loads pages faster and the body is super thin. Having the A8x processor and 2GB will be nice. But now I have to take the plunge into my music apps. I hope it won't hurt that bad.

The secret is low expectations
lol The secret is low expectations? Doesn't sound very promising.
i got mine a couple of days ago and i'm also quite satisfied.iOS8.1 is treating me not THAT bad and all apps still work (although i did not test much with AB) except Animoog and iPolysix.crashes right after launch. And i agree, the hardware is quite impressive.
Samplr doesn't work in audiobus
@Crabman Animoog and iPolysix don't crash on my new iPad. I'm running 8.1 with the apps' newest updates. Or are you talking with AB they don't work?
No,when i launch the apps stand alone.Polysix throws an"unresolved error 259" popup into my face and when i try to open a saved song it crashes.Animoog crashes right after playing a few notes.Always.
Weird. I just gave them both an extreme test and no crashes. If we are both running 8.1 it shouldn't be a problem. If I'm not mistaken I think you said something about being from Europe. Maybe our app stores have different versions of the updates (I'm in the US).
It would be good to get a third person's experience who has an Air 2 and these apps.
I am going to trade my ipad2 for some magic beans
I did the same, traded up. Very satisfied! But I also have the same issue with Animoog: crashes after playing a few notes when launched as stand alone. I have 8.1 too. Not a big deal to me compared to what I've gained overall.
Just tested Animoog & ipolysix on the air 2 ios 8.1 & no crashes
Tested both in audiobus & Animoog crashed after 5 secs but didn't crash again when I went into it again.
That's weird that it crashes for some people with the same setup.
@higs @Trentsongs Did you download the app updates from U.S. App Store? I did and I don't have any problems.
Air 2 / 8.1. Animoog was crashing a lot for me before, but I just tested it again and it behaved like Hig's (above post): crashed after a few seconds and then worked fine. Korg PolySix had no problems.
maybe i should reinstall both apps and see what happens.
Animoog crash randomly (especially when using with Audiobus and other apps) but another problem is i have every 1-2 minutes big drop outs while playing Animoog (with and without Audiobus).
Interesting observation: It seems like in the excitement, new device owners often forget the basics: after installing a music app, do a full reboot of your device.
I'm not suggesting anyone is a n00b, it happened to me the other week ;-) This is just a friendly reminder that a reboot often fixes weird stuff like this.
Thanks for the report! I'm on iPad2, and while there is a lot of good on this thread, I was scared off by a lot of the early reports sounding a bit alarming. The specs sound good, but the real-life experience with hooking up apps to the thing through AB sounds a bit inconsistent. This is likely to improve over time with software.
My primary concern is that I go spend $500 for an "upgrade" that does very little for me. Sure, the new iPad will be fast enough to run any program in isolation. Perhaps I could reinstall Auria and enjoy the plugins. But it would not fundamentally change what I can do or how I would experience it. It would just give me a bit more power and speed/stability, but that would leave me kind of feeling empty, along with my wallet.
But someday, the upgrade will have to happen, especially as I'm seeing more an more upgrades (and some new apps) as iOS8 only. It's a lot easier for me to upgrade on a phone than a tablet, since you do so many other things regularly with a phone (better camera, use of iOS features through email, etc.), plus the fact that those purchases are $200 or $300 on a subsidized contract.
AFAIK, Animoog still has the LFO / note travel rate bug in the most recent update as well - even on 8.1.
I.e. in Audiobus, the LFO / note travel rates are only correct at an AB buffer size of 256.
@StormJH1 You are right about things improving with time. When the Air2 was released things were really a big mess (as you probably already know). It's gotten better since then but it leaves room for improvement. I think a big factor is if you use your iPad professionally or as a hobbyist. A hobbyist can take more chances than a professional.
@mkell424 I updated from the UK store.
In Alchemy sound was just coming out of the first track only, tries everything & in the end I deleted Alchemy & reinstalled it & now it's all cool. I thought I'd say just incase anyone was experiencing it
Well it's not an App Store problem.
