“Spice Flower” - AUM / TouchOSC Template beta v0.6
Okay, here it is - the new and vastly improved “Spice Flower” version 6. All you need is the AUM file and TouchOSC file and you are ready to go. Full detailed setup instructions and info below, but first a quick video for those who don’t like a bunch of words. The full doc is too large for a post so make sure to download the setup text, it is also in the AUM notes and inside an instance of Session Notes on the Master Output Track 22.

“Spice Flower” 16 Channel AUM LK Atom2/Helium/MIDI Tape Recorder & TouchOSC Control Template Complete Setup Notes - version Q6 (beta 0.6)
==================================================================
i’ve been working on this setup template for AUM, LK, ATOM, Helium, MIDI Tape Recorder and TouchOSC for quite a while, and its finally come together enough for me to share publicly. If you are interested please have a look, take it for a spin, and let me know what you think. I have put a lot of effort into designing a setup which can make using AUM and TouchOSC in tandem with several popular iOS sequencers to increase your fun, productivity, and save the headache of small screen usage on powerful devices like modern iPhones with small displays. I appreciate how all of us work with different workflows, even from song to song and tool to tool. This template is designed to give you maximum flexibility and control, no matter what your personal flow, from newbie to advanced production wizard. There are a ton of fixed and added features so please make sure you have the complete set of new v0.6 downloads, read on a little bit, and start playing! For all the power and complexity of this template it’s pretty easy to set up and use, and there is always the onscreen help overlay available by tapping the “?” in the lower right corner of the TouchOSC Remote. All controls will remain active while help display is on.
Please note the template is set up to route TouchOSC into AUM via Network MIDI, so enable your MIDI Network in AUM and select the device running TouchISC - if you use another connection make sure to reroute the AUM Matrix accordingly. ONLY Connect Your TouchOSC Connection To One Place In The Matrix, The LK Input!
All testing has been done with AUM running on an iPhone 16 and the TouchOSC remote running on an iPad Pro 10. I have run the TOSC remote on an OLD iPad 2, and while quite slow it does work. The AUM template is setup for iPhone primarily in horizontal mode, most windows are fitted, and controls and transport are usually easily visible. Similarly TOSC remote is setup for horizontal use. I’ll probably add the iPad AUM version to the post fairly soon it just needs some assignments and window placements.
I have really put a ton of work into making a tool to increase your fun and productivity while making music on iOS 100% for FREE. If you appreciate this offering please go to my Bandcamp at https://mousesf.bandcamp.com and donate whatever you like for a song or album and please leave me a note to say hey. I have something like 40 albums of several genres available there, as well as links to all my other pages.
Special Thanks to all the other programmers and knob twisters who contributed bits and pieces for this, thanks for teaching me - I hope you dig how I bent your code.
Enjoy!
Current TOSC file for Qv6 beta is “Spice Flower Test Q Rollback A”
Current AUM file for Qv6 beta test is “Spice Flower Rollback A”
My AUM templates all share a common CC Control setup
and are compatible with Nektar Impakt GX Controllers. If you plug in an Akai APC Key 25 it should work as well but no guarantees
TouchOSC “AUM CTRL Q” layout for phone & pad contains 7 pages:
1 16 Channel controls, Bank MSB/LSB/PC selectors, Sends/Inserts, Moms & Togs
2 Panel - Transport & Navigation, Multiple SubSequencer, Monitor & AUM Controls
3 8 Channelized Faders with user definable labels
4 Knobs - 4 channelized banks of 8 Rotaries, all with user definable labels
5 Synth Control - 12 rotaries of common synth controls, 2nd XY Pad, ARP/FX panel
6 Key MIDI - Multi Octave Touch Keyboard w/ Mod, Sustain, XY pad & 16 drum pads
7 FX Bus & Master Outputs (Faders currently active, all other controls disabled)
List Of Features:
- 16 Ch Navigation & Transport Bar with Bar/Beat & Tempo Displays
- Supports simultaneous use of Helium, Atom2 & MIDI Tape Recorder via LK
- Almost all TouchOSC Remote controls are easily modified - changing the TAG will change assignments & displays. (As a general rule I use an object’s tag for CC/Note # and its parent’s tag for MIDI ch, but there are some controls where MIDI channel assignment derives from parent.parent.tag)
- Text Input Keyboard for custom track, instrument, patch or CC Control naming
- Press the ? In the lower right corner to display a simple help overlay
You can replace any plugin with your favorite, just modify the channel and instrument control CCs from the list below. The only 3 you really need to pay attention to for the template to work correctly for an instrument are:
GOTO- 26
OPEN - 27
BYPASS - 34
One of the many brilliant parts of AUM is the ability to save different controller setups for each instrument and reassign all MIDI channels with one command. I know reassignments can be a hassle for some people so I am considering putting out a few versions of the AUM project stacked with many popular iOS instruments, you can just save the assignments to your personal library and reload them any time you instantiate that instrument, it’s quick & easy (Don’t forget to assign the Instrument MIDI channel on the “Instrument Inputs Menu” also.

Comments
I had some issues attaching the files so here goes a second try argh Loopy File Size Constraints you are gonna have to go to patchsharing.com for the AUM file I guess my apologies.
Okay here are the patchstorage links:
https://patchstorage.com/spice-flower-touchosc-aum-template-beta-v0-6/
https://patchstorage.com/spice-flower-aum-touchosc-beta-v0-6/
Those are all good to go. Please Enjoy.
Here is a brief overview of some of the features

Looks pretty dope for primary iPhone power users. Prefer to work on a bigger screen personally. A second iPad would do the trick.
Bloody hell. This is a monster setup. Amazing work.
It'll also help me get a better grip on TouchOsc building, as I dig into it.
@Jumpercollins
yes correct I will be releasing an iPad version of the AUM project with appropriate window sizes and positions soon, as well as a few templates loaded with popular instruments to save you assigning stuff, just save to your library.
Just a brief update I found some very boneheaded errors in the current v0.6 release and have a few hanging items that have been bothering me I’m fixing today. To make amends for my naughty ways the release of the fixes will have a little bonus added, I hope to have it up by tomorrow. I should also have an additional update in a week or so with a dual pattern launching grid for both Helium and Atom2 that will be pretty awesome. Thanks!
Good work! Thanks
@Mouse_SF This is really great, thanks for sharing it. Apologies if I've missed it, one of the good problems is there's an embarrassment of riches here so I probably overlooked. But after changing your template for some of my favourite synths and having problems, I went back to your templates and started with a basic use case of trying to control the different synth channels from the TouchOSC KeyMidi page (I have most of the ones you've included so can do that from your template).
I can select the instrument from TouchOSC (Goto, Open) to bring up the right plugin for the channel, but the keys only play the first one (Koala). I see that the channel is selected in LK just by pressing the channel selector in TouchOSC, but only arming the LK channel makes it play. However I can't figure out what control in TouchOSC arms the LK track, if that's how it works?
That’s one of the reasons I have posted this update you are correct and it was my fault. Here is v0.61 on Loopy Pro which has links to the new downloads (now iPhone and iPad versions for AUm Template!)
https://forum.loopypro.com/discussion/64924/spice-flower-aum-touchosc-template-v0-61-update-now-for-iphone-and-ipad#latest
Good eye and thanks for keeping me on my toes. The new features are all working great and lots of bugs fixed. The next update will add a pattern switcher for both Helium and Atom2 which is gonna be awesome!
Thanks for the latest version. I've downloaded the new files and there's a couple of immediate issues
I have made a bunch of changes and am finishing the testing for beta v0.63. You are correct there were some command errors in the tosc file which I have fixed. Likely out this week on patchstorage and Loopy Pro. Thanks!
