Loop length = free
I’ve been using Loopy HD and Loopy Pro since their conception but I’ve always played them in sync with the metronome.
A friend just asked me how to set free loop lengths but I’ve just spent 30 minutes trying with no results. I used to think it’s all about not locking the phase but that just means that when I restart the loop it it won’t play in phase but the length remains the same.
Help please

Loop lengths are primarily determined by the recording count-out setting . Phase lock vs. free is about whether a loop plays from the beginning when triggered to play.

@espiegel123 I still don’t quite understand how to achieve this. I’d like most of my loops to play together with transport but I’d like one or two to have random lengths not quantised and not in phase with the rest. Just freewheeling until they’re stopped.
As explained in the article, recording count-in and count-out and length quantization determine when recording starts and stops. If you want recording to continue with absolutely no quantization at all, turn of length quantization and set count-out to none.
Got it working, thanks
