Copy / Duplicate clip to empty slots?

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to build a workflow in Loopy Pro where I record a loop into one clip, and then automatically copy or duplicate that loop into a few other clips right after recording ends. The goal is to do quick pitch-shifted layers from one source loop, without having to manually drag or re-record anything.

Right now, I don’t see a way to do this. There’s no action like “Duplicate to Slot” or any kind of copy/paste in the Follow Actions or Action Buttons. I tried using MIDI bindings too, but it looks like clip-level duplication just isn’t possible in any automated way.

So I guess this is a feature request: it would be awesome to have a way to duplicate a loop from one clip to others automatically—either as a Follow Action when recording ends, or from an Action Button.

Would be curious if anyone has a creative workaround, or if this is something that might be added in the future.

Thanks!

The merge/move action is what you are looking for. See the manual for details

  • Ahh! Amazing, the new MIDI to CLIP feature does what I wanted this workflow to do. Im glad to learn about how to properly copy out clips now though. Thanks Edward.

  • I'm attempting to use a merge/move action in order to bounce 3 midi clips from one page to a single midi clip on another page.
I've got a button with Press action of 'Merge/Move Playing Clips to Clip 7'.

I play the 3 midi clips and while they are playing I press this button on the same page.
I'm getting only the first of the 3 playing midi clips moved over each time, expecting a mix of all 3 into Clip 7. Have tried Mix, Append, and Replace, but no luck...

Merge/move works on one clip at a time. The “any playing clip” selector choose the first playing clip. You will need multiple actions to merge multiple clips.

  • Thanks. I was confused by the Source name "Playing Clips", which is plural...and "Any Playing Clip" also sounds like it refers to multiple

    It could be worded better
