  • I canceled the subscription thing...annoying...it's an iPad

  • I re-subscribed a few days ago, and getting a lot of UI freezes that weren’t happening when I was using the previous version, which shouldn’t be an issue on an M2 device. The lack of maintenance updates is disappointing.

similiar situation on M1, just out of curiosity resubscribed maybe 2 weeks ako - Air M1 - freezes, crashes.. cancelled subscription immediately (and asked for refund  )

Yeah, it was working fine for me last year. The update seems to have messed something up, but they don’t seem to be in a rush to fix it, so time to cancel again!

  • More UI freezing, so cancelled subscription. Oh well…

  • “Graduate” From iPad to desktop? Should be the other way around. The trend for years now is away from desktops. I don’t use a desktop for anything anymore. My entire studio is in my iPad. I can, and do, take it with me everywhere. There is some amazing functionality in LP. But there are some glaring, IMO, deficiencies such as:
Basic functionality: ability to draw a velocity curve; quantize note ends
MIDI editing; think NS2 or Xequence; arrows for precise vertical and horizontal movement; vertical drag selection; more global selection criteria (e.g. select all x values between y and z), ability to convert an automation curve from one type to another (e.g. turn a volume curve into a relative volume curve)
Better built in synths: think Obsidian; intuitive and friendly UI; better envelope control (specifically attack and release curves); multiple synthesis types; anything can modulate anything else
Workflow: there was an entire thread on this topic. Comes down to getting ideas from your right brain to your ears with minimal left brain involvement. LP is very left brain intensive.

    It is called Logic.

  • The way things are 'progressing' with LogicPro for iPad I'm leaning towards going back to the Mac full-time and treat the iPad as a 'Sound Module' via IDAM...

I actually think that substantial updates have been coming faster on Logic for both platforms since it hit the iPad. I haven’t verified that in release notes, but it feels like updates to the Mac app had slowed to a trickle.

That said, the two year progress of iPad Logic has demonstrated to me that iPadOS has a long long way to go. I treat it as a sketchpad now, and move things to desktop.

THAT said, the 3rd party ecosystem on iPad is vibrant! And I still love picking up new indie apps and getting inspiration from them. These days though, it’s a real plus if the app is available on Mac too.

    100%.

  • I think at the moment LP is very low on Apple priority list… I wouldn’t expect too much if anything.

  • The moment they drop the subscription plan they’ll see a growing number of users and LP4iPad will become more relevant.

Have been a Logic for Mac power user for many years now but never even once considered getting the iPad version in its limited state and losing access the moment I stop paying the subscription. No thanks!

  • LogicPro for iPad will be 2 years old this coming Friday (23rd) and it would be quite foolish to not celebrate it with 'something' fresh...

  • Tuesdays seem to be the day for LP4i announcements (so far), fingers crossed tomorrow is the day 🤞

  • A surprise update would be nice for both desktop and iPad.
