The (Un)Official Drone Day 2025 Thread
Attn Ambient producers (whether new to the genre or well seasoned)! Drone Day 2025 is on its way on 24 May 2025, so time to dust off those modulars, OP-1s (OGs and Fields), DAWs, AUM, reel-to-reels, whatever you have on hand basically, and either perform a live drone (or at least a produced one) to post online!
Could be streamed on Twitch and Youtube, or a live performance posted to Youtube, or even just to Soundcloud if that's your wish. Whatever you're comfortable with, it's legit. Good luck to all.

@jwmmakerofmusic Did you make that illustration yourself?
can't wait!!!!!!!
@Pierre118 Yes I did. No Google image search, no AI shit. Just me, my iPhone, Artrage Vitae, and my newly acquired Adonit stylus. ❤️
@sevenape That makes two of us! 😃 And knowing my friend Pierre, he's gonna eat up whatever we create like an expensive gourmet meal. ☺️
got a bit of a rothko vibe!
Rothko's works are simply lovely. 🥰
Can't wait! Preparations are under way - and Gear
will arrive soon ;-)
@jwmmakerofmusic Jim, the illustration is gorgeous! Can I request a blue version? Am I allowed to use it as background for Koala sampler?
Yes, great illustration Jim! And looking forward to drone day too
@catherder Woohoo! That's awesome!
@Pierre118 Sure thing mate. Normally I charge $5 USD, but I can toss in one freebie for you to use as a Koala BG. ☺️
@Gavinski Thank you Gav.
Man, Drone Day will be a helluva lot of fun!
You guys just go on and on and on and on about drone day…
🤣🤣🤣 Holy shit, the laugh I needed.
For my mate @Pierre118
I’m in, hopefully!
Woohoo! 🥳
Thank you very much, Jim. I like it!
Glad you do, mate.
You know I’m in!😃
Excellent, bestie! 🙌❤️
Hey, @jwmmakerofmusic, how’s this?
That's absolutely stunning and gorgeous, my friend. ❤️ Perfect for Drone Day upcoming this Saturday.
Here is one.
Absolutely mesmerising! I really like what you did there, mate.
Thank you. Done in Logic on an ipad for my ios peeps. Now post more music so I can hear more new ambient jams.
Nice! You definitely are a master of Logic Pro, mate.
I'll definitely post my own drone(s) soon. My aim is to make my drone in FL Studio Mobile on my UT3 Android tablet. "Wait what?!" You heard me correctly, mate. I'm going to do exactly that. Shouldn't be difficult at all tbqh. 😃
Actually I'm doing the same thing in FLstudio on my mac right now with the stock synths.
Our friends from the Rocky Mountain Synthesizer Meet invited us (Moray Firth Synthesizer Club - Scotland) to contribute to their Drone Day Livestream on Saturday. It will be pre recorded videos presented live. I'm happy to be part of the lineup with my "Peaceful Morning" piece. It's mostly semi modular hardware with the iPad adding some Bleass Shimmer and Eventide Blackhole sounds.

This year I’m running an event here in Patagonia. Excited because lots of musicians showed interest and will join with electronic and acoustic instruments. And of course some of the sounds/processor will be from the iPad. I’ll stream some parts of the event from my studio instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/estudiokymatika/) or from my own account (https://www.instagram.com/josueariasmusic).
It does feel a bit like hiding in here, I don't know.🙃😉 Anyway here's my contribution:
A project started in BeatCutter and then it's been back and forth between iPad and Mac (Reason and Lunacy Beam.) Synth drones used was Nikaya and Phase Monkey. Plugins on iPad: Quantum Granular, Delay and Filter by GSDSP, Imaginando GRFX, Bram Bos Skulptur, Audiothing Frostbite, Aqeel Aadam Ridgewalk and Waymaker and on Master Bus: Klevgränd Grand Finale. 4Pockets Helium for midi (and Waymaker).
Video base was recorded using Arkestra (Syphon) on Mac then moved to Luma Fusion on iPad for some further layering. Hope you can hold out for eight minutes.
Another one.
You guys impress me by churning out such good pieces. @rottencat what software/app do you use to arrange your songs?
