iOS 18.4.1 and Steinberg audio interface

Hello all,
I have a Steinberg UR44 (not C model) and a 2018 iPad Pro 11”.
I’d like to update to the current OS but I think I remember reading that the Steinberg was not recognized by the iPad after updating.
Anyone have any experience or info on this.
I appreciate any input.

I reached out on 2 Steinberg sites on FB and received no response.

  • I don't know if it helps, but my UR22 works well with my 18.4.1 M1 Pro

I'll tag @LFS for you, mate. Hoping this can get sorted.

  • I have an 'old' UR-242 and it works perfectly with my 11" M1 iPadPro running iPadOS18.4.1 using a simple USB-C -> USB-B cable, no dongles needed.

I think it’s the same series only with different number of channels. So yes, thanks for that.

I appreciate that friend. Is this the developer?

I do the same with USB-C to USB-B with my current setup and it works well. Thanks for letting me know.

Yes, LFS is the main Steinberg contact on our humble forum. :)

    Hi @Ben

I do not see any issues using the UR44 with Cubasis running the latest iPadOS version. But, I'm not equipped with the UR44 to give it a check. Where did you read about the issues?

    Best,
    Lars

  • Just checked all my current audio-interfaces (Audient ID4mk2 & EVO4, Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 4th Gen, Steinberg UR-242, Behringer UCA-202, AudioTechnica USB Turn-Table, iRig MicHD and a few no-name 'USB-Dongles') with My 11" M1 iPad Pro running iPadOS18.5 and all work as expected with no issues...

  • Check if there is an update for the hardware on the Steinberg website.

It's stuff I've collected over the years with the Scerlet 2i2 4th Gen being the most recent one :sunglasses:
...I got the UR-242 when I wanted a step up from the UCA-202 to something with mic-pres way back...

Thanks for responding Lars. I don’t recall where I came across that information but it seems that no one is having any issues here.

Hey no shame man, I still have my Alesis iodock. 30 pin to lightning adapter> Air2. Works like a charm.

I've got one old interface for 'free' (LineIn from Line 6), I have a 30pin to Lightning adapter for it but currently no good way to hook it to a USB-C based iPad, but it works flawlessly with the old iPhone 8 and iPad Air 2, I've also got an iRig Mic Field and yeah, been 'hoarding' stuff over the years, one of the oldies I still use almost daily is the iRig Mic HD which I really enjoy...
