Take Five | Laidback groove cover (Guitar, Vocals, LP2 beta)

Comments

  • @sennoide : love the laid back groove. Terrific performance.

  • Cool. Nice work. I like what you did with this old standard.

  • @espiegel123 thanks man! 🙏🏼
    the arrangement is loosely based on Al Jarreau's and Maria João's (Portuguese jazz singer) versions. I enjoy both very much :)

    @Dav
    thanks a lot :)

  • Very nice! Great vocals. Your Loopy Pro setup looks good, too. Thanks for sharing.

  • That was a great performance, what a great voice you have, you remind me of a modern day Georgie Fame but on guitar. I have always loved this great Dave Brubeck song since its release in 1959, but I never knew there were lyrics. I particularly like your lead solo at the end, definitely one of the best versions I have ever heard 👌

  • @pbelgium
    thank you!

    @rapidfire
    wow, thank you so much! that was quite a statement :smiley:
    first time i heard this song with lyrics it blew me away.
    same guy also sang a version of Spain by Chick Corea, but I don't like that one as much.
    i was surprised to find out that So What by Miles Davis also had lyrics.

    here's the video to Al Jarreau's version of Take Five with lyrics:

    i'll check out Georgie Fame too for sure!

    I very much prefer your version. Al Jarreau has a gimmick with his ultra fast speach, but your version is definitely worthy of many listens, it puts me in a happy mood 👍

    I got a gut feeling one of your next covers should be "Girl from Ipanema". I think you would do exceedingly well with it, mate.

  • Really nice.

    I can’t stop hearing that song in my head, but I agree with you, he has a voice that suits this era well.
