Remind me the name of an AUv3 app that can be used to view notes, lyrics etc

I know AUM has its own notes system but I am trying to remember the name of an app (or maybe there is more than one) that can be loaded as an AUv3, preferably with decent resizing and scrolling etc functionality, and can be used to write and view notes, lyrics etc. Thnx

  • I think so, looks like it'll do the job, thnx for the speedy reply, I'll check it out!

  • Seems decent, wish it had markdown support but useful nevertheless, cheers

I would love a Session Notes style app for doodles utilizing the apple pencil

I do template layouts, fx chain concepts, etc etc on my phone with a stylus pretty effin regularly. Would love something I can pop up for quick jots that doesn't involve swapping to another app or side by side windows

Anyone down to make a Session Jots auv3?

(If id have any base knowledge towards starting it, id totally call it Papa B Jottin)

((edit: the first of my fantastical auv3 line, Papa B Plugin 😅))

This post led me to see if I could use Obsidian / Slide Over iPadOS functionality with the floating keyboard option as an alternative since I couldn’t think of an auv3 one and I’m low key kinda stoked on it. So thanks!

Nice, and Obsidian rules! In this case, I'm looking for an AUv3 that will stay in the session and where seeing the icon there among the nodes, or leaving it open when I save the session, will remind me to read it

Workaround I just made, use this shortcut

    Here is the output

It opens Drambo, waits 3 seconds and then opens Obsidian in slide over mode.

Then just open up Shortcuts and edit the file to taste, switch to AUM, or whatever your preference apps for both are.

Then select the title of the shortcut and then the add to Home Screen option

This will give you an option to choose an icon.

Now it opens automatically from the home screen with the default icon

You could set up a prompt to choose whether to open the note app or not. and even set a specific note from a specific folder.

Obviously not what you're looking for, just an alt idea if nothing else comes up.
if there's an AUV3 with markdown that can do that, that would be ideal.

One thing that's kinda nice with this method is to have the session notes in a main writing app in case you need to reference them in a pinch.

I'm gonna end up using this going forward so thanks again for sparking the idea!

Oh wow, that's inventive, if a bit of a rigmarole, but thnx for sharing. I'd like Markdown but having it as an AUv3 right inside AUM is much more important to me. I might contact the Session Notes dev and ask if he'll add ability to handle Markdown, with an edit mode and a view mode. Haven't checked yet whether it handles rich text, if it does that would be handy but I doubt it does. Cheers!

The post took longer to make than the set up, but I get it, no worries!

Good idea, best of luck! 🤘🏽

  • @Gavinski from Session Notes manual (standalone):
The ‘File Import’ button enables you to import files in both Rich Text Format (RTF) and Plain Text Format (TXT) from the Files App.

Just Chords has an AUv3 plugin that can be used to store lyrics and session notes.

  • I haven’t tested much yet so I’m not sure the limitations, but maybe you could use Web AU and have it point to a link with a google doc or similar tied to your specific project. I’m not sure if the app does that and saves the web page per project or not.

I know Drambo has text boxes. Don’t think it has markdown or anything, but it’s a quick and dirty solution for straight text.

I feel like I remember a few music theory apps with some functionality for taking notes, but I can’t recall which. Sorry that isn’t terribly specific, but looking at some utility/theory based apps might bring you something.

  • Web AU App I think it’s called by the same developer as session notes. It’s a web browser AUv3 app. You can not use any audio through your host but you can hear it, and see anything you like
