My first diatonic accordion

As some may already know, last year I fell in love with the accordion. So far I had piano accordions but last week I bought my first button diatonic one, a wonderful Hohner HA-112.

I will have to somehow sample it at some point!

  • Looks Nice! Hohner makes great ones.

I still have Hohner b/c double ray. They’re great boxes. Your new accordion looks wonderful.

  • Careful with those things. Once I left one in the backseat of my car and forgot to lock the doors. When I came back I found three! Someone had managed to dump a couple more.

(kidding, of course, I’m just jealous 🤩)

  • Thank you all!
This model is basic with 10 treble buttons and 2 bass ones (spoons), but it sounds great. The bass is fantastic, especially for a small box. It’s probably from the late 50’s or early 60’s and is not particularly rare, at least here in Quebec.

  • I started out on accordian when I was 7 years old. It still have my old Italo American. I never forget the Christmas morning when I opened that big, beautiful present. It's a beauty. Red pearl finish, 5 presets. The case is lined with a beautiful purple material that I can't describe. It smells like... accordian. I wish accordians would make a comeback. I also have three. I would be loaded for bear!

    Cool!
Accordion is very present in my musical life, I am almost exclusively playing it and piano (digital one, Roland HP704).

Found a Hohner HA-113 this week and bought it too. Its treble side has a third voice (set of reeds) being LMM, the 112 is MM.

The good thing with the fact that accordions are not very popular these days is that there are great used boxes at affordable prices on the market.
