Ifretless Bass Update

Added electric upright bass. Fixed clicking issue, unison and octave effects.

Comments

  • We're a little late on fixing that click issue but glad it's finally gone.

You can turn on the unison and octave effects at the same time which gives you three notes for every one touch on the screen.

Since the touch screen doesn't support barring one finger across several strings, your chord fingerings are limited to the number of fingers you can get on the screen. With those effects all on we can get full sounding chords with just three fingers.

  • I was reading fixed click associated with tone control in update description. I'm not sure it's fixed.

  • @Blue_Mangoo Hi there, can you tell me please how can I restore the purchased instruments?? I've reinstalled the app and all the extra instruments were gone.

  • Just do the same thing you did when you bought them last time. It will look like it's buying the instruments again but it won't bill your account. This is true of all apps that sell non-consumable in app purchases, not just iFretless. (Non consumable purchases include all in app purchases except things that get used up or expire. An example of a consumable purchase is exrta health for a character in an online game.) Also, if you install iFretless on the same apple account on more than one iOS device the purchased items will transfer in the same way: when you press buy it will give you the purchased item without actually billing your cd it card. We will add a "restore in app purchases" button to avoid this confusion in the future.

  • Ok, i'll do it so. Your explanation is fine but in some apps you'll find a "restore purchases" option in the config menu. Would be grat to have also the option in ifretless bass.

I'm still getting the clicks too. Just rebooted and tested again with only ifretless running and duplicated the clicks again.

  • Am also still getting the clicks..

  • I´m also still getting the clicks..

  • Clicks here too, I'm afraid. IPad 3.

  • No clicks, pretty much perfect playing response and volume. IPad 2, iOS v5.1.1

  • Very nice update. No more clicking. Great!

  • I still have clicking as well unfortunately. I will note its not as bad as it previously was and on experience it during heavy usage. Hope that helps!

    (iPad 2 w/ latest iOS)

  • I've noticed I'm getting loads more clicks if the side panel is visible and shite loads if I move the side panel while holding a note down.
Still get a few with side panel hidden, but not as many.
    (Ipad2/ 6.1.3)

  • Same here. Only with internal sounds. As a midi controller it's fine.

  • [Speaking for Hans here.... ] The side panel bug is known and is a separate issue. Just don't touch it while playing for now!

It doesn't seem to click anymore during normal playing for me on iPad3, latest iOS... definitely an improvement.

I'd like to find out more about the conditions under which you are experiencing clicks. We test on iPad 1, 2, and 3 and we aren't getting any serious clicking problems on those devices so if you're still getting clicks it's probably not a hardware issue.

The only known bug that causes clicking in ifretless 2.4 is a CPU overload when the menu controls are being adjusted. That menu has some CPU eating custom graphics that we would like to redesign but in the mean time, just close the menu when you've got your sound dialed in and it should be fine.

There are also several situations where clipping occurs with certain tone settings. We allow users to push the settings to extremes and that opens up possibilities for unpleasant sounds to come out.

If you are getting clicking, turn the max volume down (iFretless volume, not the ipad volume) or stop boosting frequencies on the equalizer. If you've done those things and its still clicking, I would like to hear about it. I've got my email and Facebook contact info posted at iFretless.com.

    Hans

  • @Blue_Mangoo I usually do put the volume cap above 100. I will try keeping it below 100 and see what happens. I never touch the eq. Thank you.

Dropped velocity and volume to 95 and clicking has gone..
    Thank you Hans.
Btw,sounds really good running through some of the ampkit amps and effects.

    Edit...almost gone!
Just getting the odd one now,but they are few and far between.

  • I'm getting much better results with the volume down as well.

  • I'm glad to hear that helps. We are limited with the design because we wanted a lot of dynamic range but also wanted to hear some sound coming out of the tiny built in speakers. Sometimes in the past people complained that the app was too quiet but we also get clicks when we turn it up. the volume, eq and velocity controls can usually give you what you want but the fact that ifretless has nine or ten different settings that relate to output volume makes it a non trivial matter.
