I Feel Love - Donna Summer/Moroder project

Long story short....in my Production course, I was highlighting that the future of music will be written on the iPad, blalblabla...I got assigned a project: recreate "the simple" I Feel Love 8-sequencer pattern using iOS app!

I m looking around, I could try many app/synth; although I d need to ask some questions to you:

  • which are the notes of these 8 path sequencer?
  • effect, I think is a Delay.
  • cutoff/frequency according to taste, I guess.
  • which would be the best apps to use?

Highly appreciated any help!

Comments

  • The basic technique is a simple 4 note pattern set with delay full wet to the left

  • Try Magellan or MidiSequencer & iMini Combo.
They should both get you pretty close to the original with little tweaking, what you choose to use is personal preference.

  • I like that song, and I like the Red Hot Chili Pepper cover of it. Good luck on your project.

@ArcaneScreams Awesome cover! Thanks for sharing. I checked iTunes and I can't find it. Do you know if they released it on an album or single?

  • @mkell424 It's on 'Live In Hyde Park'. And yeah, awesome cover. Big fan of John Frusciante. Big big fan. :-)

  • The cover from RHCP is amazing, by the way, thx for the advice!
Project is shaping up....actually using Gadget only (as first simple try); bassline playing around C3C3C3C3G2G2A#2A#2 ..... I ll put soon the first scratch :)

  • @Ollimac73 Cool, looking forward to hearing it!

Here is a Magellan patch that I think is getting close to the "I feel love" sound.
    Play it on C4-C4-G3-A3#

    sample:

  • Created entirely in IMS20 .. ;-)

It's only a loose version, not supposed to be a copy of the original !

That's funkytown from lipps inc. I feel love is definitely a delay effect that makes it 16 notes and panned. c2c2g1a1# (whatever octave) and the whole thing is just transposed from C, D#,F,G

  • Xynthesizr comes to mind

  • Oh yeh... Fail...

So...that is a first interpretation, thanks for the advice: test passed! All done with Gadget.
