Please , a tutorial link or other for select white dot function

Greetings, now I am no stranger to daws and tech, am currently beta 2.0 loopy pro. I just dont understand the white dot. I think it will help be more accurate in actions for clip merging ,i will not be using a remote controller in this instance , lets star there. Either a link to a tutorial or an explanation say for setting up four clips , all with an option to merge . I just need a simple tutorial on what the blazes is the white dot. 👍and I can take it from there , thanks

The white dot just means that the clip is the selected clip. The selected clip can be a target of clip actions. Fot example, you might have a button that selects the next clip and another button that plays or records the selected clip.

See the manual. For example : https://loopypro.com/manual/#clip-actions

  • Thanks , just hitting a total blank as to how to implement, I understand gestures and actions I think, but this white dot eludes me ..I shall as always painfully persevere I guess, but if any one else wants to chip in then please do !

A clip becomes selected using the Select action.

You could have a gesture that selects 'this clip' or a button that selects next clip, for example.

Try this: Create a button and give it the select action. Choose next clip as the option.

Press the button that you created and see what happens.

Selected clip is mentioned in the navigation tutorial here: https://wiki.loopypro.com/Simple_Looper_Tutorial_Projects#Simple_Navigation_Example

  • You can ignore the white dot if you’re not using anything that targets it. It does nothing otherwise except to put a sort of “target” on the clip.

Later, if you start getting into using buttons and other features to do things, “Selected Clip” is one of the ways you can tell Loopy what loop you want to do things to.

I’d forget about it until you feel like learning more about customizing Loopy Preo.

Ok ! I got it. Now I can have greater control over basic actions particularly for merging clips. No clumsy dragging on a busy layout. Not that Im necessarily going to use it now haha , but now I have more knowledge/power to my elbow ! if needed. So many options . Exactly what I wanted. Thanks for taking a look.👍
