No way! I was only listening to a few choice Nitzer Ebb tunes on Tuesday.
Fond memories of seeing them live a few times... Including the time when they had big technical problems and stormed off stage to never return (Leicester poly 1990?).
Anyway such a Shame
F**K.
I was listening to his Black Line project album just the other day wondering if they were working on a new one.
I saw Nitzer Ebb live during their Big Hit era. I listened to that album non stop, it was part of a long list of Flood productions I had on repeat (Doppelgänger, Violator, SOFAD, Pretty Hate Machine, Downward Spiral, etc.)...
Scary thing is he wasn't much older than me.
No cause of death announced but an article hinted at liver damage from years of heavy drinking...
Trying to remember when Alan Wilder from DM got involved... they certainly got a bit less stompy/shouty on later albums! Some absolutely lush productions... ...with metal vocals!
This has been wall to wall on my FB today. So many of my friends loved Doug’s work, met him, worked with him. Thinking about the shows I got to see at the minute, and that voice.
Yeah, it’s a heavy blow to the EBM/synth community indeed.

I was very upset when I heard this. Nitzer Ebb were why I got into ‘electronic music’. I remember grabbing the last copy of the 12inch of Join in the Chant in a Virgin Megastore and another guy was very put out. Control I’m here is one of the best records ever.
