Project tempo miscalculation

Hi - I have recorded a first loop in Loopy Pro and it has calculated a bpm tempo from that which is not accurate when I sync it to a drum machine. How do I fix the project tempo without changing to first loop.

Can you explain more? In what way is the tempo inaccurate?

I don’t know if I can explain it. It appears to have detected a bpm in my first loop which is not accurate. Is there a way to re-set the bpm without changing the loop?

You can tap where the tempo is displayed and you can change the tempo. You probably want to turn time-fitting off in playback settings before doing that or it will change the playback speed. If you change the tempo in a situation like this, your loop may become a strange length that won't by in sync with the metronome. You will want to make sure that after changing the tempo, the loop is a precise number of bars long.

If you are playing in the same time signature as Loopy is set to, I suggest before doing anything else you figure out what the problem is. Typically, the tempo calculation can be off by a factor of two in which case there is a tempo multiply/divide adjustment that will change the tempo without changing the loop. The other thing that can throw off initial tempo calculation is if the loop length is not a power of 2 long (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, etc). So, if the tempo-defining first loop is 3 bars long or 12 bars long, the tempo calculation will be based on a power of 2 length. If you look at the information for the loop, you will see that it is the wrong number of measures.

Have you looked in the clip details window to see what length it things the loop is?

Thanks for your detailed response. I will turn off the time fitting in the playback settings.
