Plugin Not Available on Your iPad Error
Hi gang, I posted this specific error in a RingsFX thread but thought others may have had a similar issue with other plugins in Logic.
just opened a Logic for iPad project up which features RingsFX and was greeted with the following error
“RingsFX of type stereo is not available on your iPad”
Along with it not loading the plugin. Tried another and had the same issue. I’ve opened up Cubasis projects with RingsFX and there have been no issues. I can load a new instance of RingsFX up in Logic without issue. Everything is updated and I’ve tried restarting the iPad to see if that helps. I’m away at the moment but when I get home I’ll try opening these on desktop.
Anyone else encounter a similar issue? I’d remove the instance of the failed plugin and just load it again but the problem is that I don’t know what presets I used 😊

Was it by chance multi-out? Are you using the latest Logic Pro version? Multi out is broken right now in Logic and every (old) project on which you had multi out will break like this if you open it.
(and this is just unacceptable considering that Logic is not cheap)
When Plug-Ins go 'awol' (ie. get disable for one reason or the other) in LogicPro for iPad the only way to get them back is to reset the Logic Settings under System Settings as un-installing and re-installing plug-ins won't help.
No work is lost, only app settings and the internal plug-in database is 'reset', all user content stays put.
Maybe someday we'll get a plug-in manager in LogicPro for iPad similar to the one in the Mac version...
Then we naturally have the current WTF situation where there 2.2 update somehow 'disabled' Side-Chain and Multi-Out support for all 3rd AUv3s that supported those features... (They still work for all the built-in stuff though).
Thanks for the response @unlink . No I don’t believe it was multi out as I’ve never used that feature. Unless it was automatically set at as multi out?
Hey @Samu thanks so much for this. I’ll give it a try and report back. Hopefully nothing explodes 😁
And yes totally agree about the plugin manager. There’s so much to like about Logic for iPad however having the desktop version also shows us how much is missing!
@Samu just did the reset but alas I’m still getting the error. RingsFX hasn’t been updated for 11 months so it can’t be that. Must have been the Logic update. Maybe the plugin is seen as multi out now for some reason? I’m trying to get hold of Paul but not only tried via YouTube comment for now as can’t see other methods and not sure how responsive he is. My only hope at present is that these can open in desktop Logic and I can resurrect from there.
Are you trying to load it onto a mono audio track? (Some plug-ins are only available for stereo tracks).
But yes, there are some other 'things' as well that got messed up in the LogicPro for iPad 2.2 update and from what I've seen almost every iOS Music related 'news outlet' is pretty much or close to super quiet about these issues...
(I've done my share of reporting every single issues I've bumped into so far and it's up to the 'Apple GODs' to provide us with an update, hopefully it's not another 6+ months of waiting).
Hi SAMU, appreciate the response. It was just a midi track and the projects worked fine last I opened them, which I feel was probably pre Logic update. I’ll report it to Apple, following your good lead.
I really do prefer Logic as my main daw on iPad and the the ability to easily transfer projects to desktop makes for my exact use case for the iPad. If Apple were only more responsive in terms of bug fixes and development it’d be a dream!
@Samu how are you reporting Logic errors to Apple? I can only see a phone option but I assume there must be some online option?
Here’s a weird thing. I’ve just found some other Logic projects which feature RingsFX that do open without issue. These, as with the others mentioned above, were all created pre Logic update and all would have been added the same way. RingsFx has not been updated for 11 months so it’s not like a RingsFX broke anything.
RingsFX is multi out.

Thanks @samu !
That mustn't be the issue then as I have some projects loading fine with RingsFX included and others not.
Any chance some instances are instruments and some are effects? Is that the difference?
Thanks @timfromtheborder . No they are all instruments. It’s odd as I can’t figure out what the difference could be. If RingsFX had been update more regularly then I’d put it down to a combo of a version issue with the latest Logic update. I’m just hoping that when I get back to my desktop in a few days I can open the projects ok on full Logic. I can see or save the presets then and just replace the auv3 in Logic for iPad with itself 😊
