Quick, nooby question.

Basically, I'm thinking of getting a usb mixer tomorrow - just want to double check that I will be able to connect it up so the sound goes comes out of the mixer via the usb hub.

So it would go iPad - Camera Connection Kit - USB hub - output on desk

  • I think it depends what part of the chain the mixer is plugged. The iPad puts out very little power through its USB port, which means it can only handle low power devices. You may need more power to drive the mixer. If your mixer has AC power or if you use a powered USB hub it will work.

  • As long as the mixer USB is Class Compliant (i.e. specs say no drivers needed for Mac), you should be OK. What brand mixer are you looking at? Most Behringers, for example, work the way you want.

  • Also, remember, that most low cost USB mixers only output a single stereo channel - the main mix.
