Summer Solstice (Solo, Noire, Vital Series: Mallets, Jaeger, Omnisphere, Continua)

This is a music track that I improvised on two MIDI keyboards connected to Bitwig Studio on a desktop PC. There the MIDI was routed to Solo for the cello, flute, and bassoon; Noire for the piano; Vital Series: Mallets for the song bells and crotales; Jaeger for the singing voice; and Omnisphere and Continua for the background instruments.

After bringing the audio recording into Vegas Pro, I applied the Lurssen Mastering Console plug-in to the audio mix.

It's titled Summer Solstice.

  • Sounds good!

Is that Milkdrop 3.28 you using for the visuals? If so I have a question for you: I have a old laptop with win10 and MD3.28 but can't figure out what to record the visuals to. What do you use? (If it's something else just ignore)

  • @Pxlhg, no, I haven't tried Milkdrop.

I tend to use Astrofox, Magic, and a few other PC-based visualizers. Then I use the video FX plugins in Vegas Pro to make the graphics more symmetrical and dynamic. Because the video plugins can be adjusted while previewing the music and visuals, I can experiment in real-time to find the FX settings that best match the mood and pace of the music.

Thanks David for the info, yeah I got After Effects on my mini, is such a power-pack but I totally got away from doing things on the computer.

  • Medicinal healing at work… there’s power in the overtone series. Selecting notes from that mathematical/musical construct really touches the human body.

  • Thanks, @McD. Much appreciated.

  • beautiful. I also like that there is no much reverb.
