[Funk/Jungle] I built this track around two small samples of LinearLineman.

Written with GR2 hosting Drambo.
Mixed in Logic Pro for iPad.

I added the drums and bass. The remaining instruments comprise two samples of Michael Levy’s, “Evangelist” (forum member LinearLineman). Instances of the samples are both clean and processed.

I began this inside Drambo standalone on my phone. The hook came about immediately, but struggled to build around it, so i abandoned the project after a couple weeks. Once GR2 came out, i revisited and finishing this has been a pleasant experience.

Below is a link to Michael Levy’s (Linear Lineman) song which inspired me to make, Slang Vine.

@sevenape , something for you awaits in the middle, if you can make it that far.😆

  • Cool vibes!

  • It sounds like you are a remix master… really solid composition made from found audio, I’m guessing.

  • Enjoyed this very much. I’ve been dabbling in this approach recently. Always something new and exciting seems to happen. If there are no takers, I would love to have a swing at it.

That’s high praise, sir, but I never considered anything I’ve ever done to be a remix. In my world, population 1, a remix is the producer’s equivalent to that of a cover song. The song is different but still recognizable, and not just by lyrics.
But i do like, “really solid composition made from found audio.” This really means something to me, especially coming from someone who is well-versed with the ancient art of Sketch Padding, such as yourself.

Yes! I love that “new and exciting” aspect of it. In this case, it began by taking a part of LL and running it through Spacecraft.
Thank you, and I’m so happy you got enjoyment out of this. I’m not sure what you mean exactly by, Have a swing at it. If you mean, lift parts of this song, have at it!

  • Sorry I didn’t reply sooner, I’ve been on a trip without my iPad or computer, I love this!! It’s really really nicely produced it’s exactly the kind of jungle I like, particularly the middle part ;) it’s a real trip and a real journey in sound. A “proper” song!!! I’m Jealous!!!!

No problem and thanks for listening. Since i couldn’t find your track creation in the forum search, I had to go by memory, and figured I tagged the wrong forum member. I’m glad you enjoyed it! It makes me feel good that you used the J word without me making any reference! Now I’ll edit the Title in case there are any heads out there.
I’m jealous that you went that long without devices!!

Fun fact @LinearLineman , out of wanting to respect your respect for Vangelis, my song title, Slang Vine, is an anagram of Vangelis.

  • Gosh, very interesting stuff. Thx for the resurrection! I’m curious about Baubie= Gaubie. What’s the difference between? Very good production values, too.

  • Really well done, I enjoyed this a lot! I've been thinking a lot about Jungle recently, as I've been reading Mark Fisher again. Probably the last real truly innovative leap in popular music (in the broadest sense of the word).
