Drum Machine MIDI Splitter Mozaic Script demo w AUM project file

The Mozaic script is up on patchstorage:

https://patchstorage.com/drummachine-midi-note-splitter/

How this is made is probably more interesting than the resulting music.

I was considering the power of the LumBeats drummers as generators of interesting rhythm patterns BUT I wanted to spilt the Notes across MIDI channels so I could drive a rack of targets.

So, I made a Mozaic script to “listen” for the Notes output from Lumbeats apps.I saved the Notes and tied them to knobs so I could tweak the actual notes up or down across all possible MIDI Notes.

That was interesting but didn’t change much from bar to bar… so I added a Transpose Knob and set it up in AUM to change the transpose knob using the Sample and Hold option in RozetaLFO.

I set ou a rack with Tera Pro, Xinematix and 16 PianoTeq 8 instances because it offers a wide variety of percussive instruments.

I added a 2nd instance to get more “melodies” in the targets.

  • It works really well using SugarBytes DrumComputer for the MIDI inputs.

I added some Decent Sampler presets to the mix.

That's really cool and exciting. I know I would lower the tempo to at least half of current but, that's me. 😁

  • Nice idea McD, are you planning to put this on Patchstorage by any chance? If you do, I’d love to try it

    Drum re-mapper
    Already on Patchstorage

Actually… this script is new. I think that older remapped just impacted notes but didn’t re-route each note to a new
    MIDI channel.

I will set up an AUM project with Numa Player as the targets since that a free app.
I need to look for a free drum machine to be the “source” app… if I can’t find one I’ll
use DrumComputer since it’s AUv3. If the new Lumbeats app drops with AUv3 support
I’ll throw that into the rig as well. “RozetaLFO” improves the mix of resulting notes so the
output is not so static from bar to bar.

Spreading the MIDI over distinct channels is a reasonable workaround for apps without
multi-outs… I could put volume knobs on each channel for more mix control.

  • The AUM Project with a preload Mozaic script is available at:

    https://patchstorage.com/drummachine-midi-note-splitter/

Save the script or re-load the AUM project (save it too) to reset.
