iOS 18.5 issue

Hi everyone.
Recently updated to 18.5 on my 2018 iPad Pro.
Buffer size typically starts at 32 and doubles up to 1024. Now after 512 the next option is 606.
My most recent LP project uses instances of Animoog, Mariana and various others without a hitch but since updating I get terrible distortion and crackling on playback. Unlistenable.
I’ve done all the usual suspect trouble shooting but no joy.
Any responses welcome and thanks in advance.

Sorry I can’t be of much help, but we’re just about 3 months (or less) away from the next major OS update from Apple (iPadOS 26).

It sounds like you are running into a known iOS bug introduced in iOS 18 that to the best of my knowledge affects all audio apps. Typically when this happens, you can try to set the buffer size and when it fails force-quit/close the app then relaunch it and check to see if the buffer size is correct. If that doesn't work, try again and power down (with slide to power off) and power back up.

Some people find that turning Siri off (or on then off if it is already off) and turning off all voice-activated OS features solves the problem.

Thanks @espiegel123. I’ve done all of that except turning Siri on and off so I’ll try that as well.
    Thanks @NeuM as well.

That particular issue is present in the current beta of iOS 26. I don’t hold out much hope of it being fixed if it’s an os bug, given that the disappearing AUv3 bug persisted through 3 major releases.

  • Rats, my ipad auto updated last night, it was a new/used purchase and forgot to turn off autoupdate.
Sitting here with the new loopy pro wanting to get it going... alas

  • Well, selecting the buffer I want, then closing loopy and reopening again seems to work.
Fun times on Loopy Pro 2.0!

It is behaving better now. How high does the buffer go for you?
