Synthetic Drum App
Can somebody please recommend an app that is basically synthetic (NO samples) and percussive in the fashion of Impaktor ?
I also need to be able to play notes by finger-individually, (not only by sequencer) to feed it into Werkbench.
Even a good synthesizer would do...Laplace?
TIA
Comments
I've been using the easter egg synth in Caustic for this, it's good!
I still think SeekBeats is the best though, iMS-20 is cool too.
iMS-20 is cool and it also looks very serious and industrial and makes the user feel suitably hardcore.
Robotic Drums?
MoDrum is one of my favs - recently updated with some modernization.
iELECTRIBE or Stroke Machine
Stroke machine
Tokyo in Gadget
Two other more obscure options:
Turquoise DS (interesting melodic noises and drum sounds)
Bleep!BOX (Personally I really like the drum sounds i can get out of this. And i love the fact on the synth you can set the attack greater than the decay and then play any sound in reverse)
By the way, why not just use SeekBeats or Impaktor?
Stroke Machine has a fairly powerful synthesis engine, nice effects section, and the pads sense velocity by finger position. Yes, it has realtime recording mode.
Robotic Drums is more accessible for synth drum programming.
I do like iMS-20's drums but it's not the best choice for real-time playing.
If you already have Impaktor, you can just use that too.

ditto -- they seem to be best for what you're after.
Thank you all, looks like really nice choices...Stroke machine, iMS-20,(used to have it in Nintendo DS,lol).. SeekBeats look great...got to wait for sale...
MoDrum is affordable...now...
Out of the choice I think SeekBeats and Stroke machine are the ticket
@firejan82, don't have SeekBeats, I use Impaktor, but I haven't figure out how to do with the sensitivity...I record often when I don't want to...you know just handling the tablet

Make sure you watch a lot of demos of Stroke Machine and ensure that it will work well on your model of iPad. The interface (esp. the color scheme) is not for everyone, and it's very processor intensive.
seek beats, you won't regret it

I think it looks the best ATM, only watching videos I didn't see any "pads/keys" to hit...
Following up on the above, SeekBeats is the best in terms of crafting and sequencing synth drum sounds - it's a must-own, IMO. But it's missing a few annoying things that are destructive to workflow - no "bounce loop" feature, and (amazingly) no ability to preview a sound as you tweak it (sounds only work when the sequence is playing). These issues have been raised to the developer, and I think he is looking at them for an update someday. Still a great app - but if I want to just "get stuff done", MoDrum is a simpler alternative that has those missing features.
Stroke Machine is really cool - probably one of the more powerful synth percussion designers on iOS (haven't used iMS-20). But so much so that it's a bit over my amateur head, and it really is meant for the newer devices, as it struggles on an older iPad.
Both are excellent apps however. Percussion apps are my addiction, I tend to check them out eventually so long as there's any indication I'll have a use for them.

There are pads. For the WerkBench workflow you described you just need to press play on an empty sequence and go to the pads page. There's also velocity by finger position and repeat for the 16th's.

Have the Threshold slider in WerkBench all the way to the right until you're ready to record.
@StormJH1 is becoming the authority on drum apps. Everything he said up there, I feel the same. I'd add that both modrum and seekbeats are missing a song/pattern chaining mode.
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 I have to say I love Turquoise DS. It's not an especially complex synthesis engine, but it just comes up with sounds that I like.

IMHO, that makes you both authorities;-)
Seriously, I really appreciate this forum and the knowledge and help when needed.
My post was also to find something new in this "type" of apps I like...
Actually the Impaktor is just great for that,....all it needed was to tweak the mics, thanks @firejan82...
Does Seek Beats have midi in so you can use it with a sequencer like Cubase? (Not necessarily midi sync, but can you play the sounds via midi in?) What about IAA?
I'm pretty happy using Stroke Machine like this but I would jump on Seek Beats if it can too.
