Backing Tracks Synced to Loopy SET

Hey Yall... Im building a set here that is based around looping with set backing tracks. I have set up a loopy AU module to handle all of the backing track launching. I have it set up in different projects and am managing it using setlists. Basically im using LINK to give the BPM to the main loopy pro from the backing track module...

Im having some workflow issues with managing the setlists. Is there a command that can just bring up the set list? Or a command to "Load next song in setlist"? Also, having an interesting time managing the clock in the main loopy set if i ever reset the tempo... i have to manually to into the tempo menu and select the link tempo by hand.

So my main question is how to manage the setlists with out having to menu dive and also how to set up sync so its rock solid...

What about setting up transitions between two different backing tracks sort of like a DJ would do?

Does anyone have experience with doing a DJ style set with loopy? Any advice or pointers or example sets would be so incredibly helpful.

CHEERS :)

  • For my own interest, would you mind explaining why you manage the backing tracks and setlist in Loopy AUv3 rather than in the master? I'm sure you have reasons for that, so I'm curious.

If you scroll down in the Load Project action, you'll find Next Project In Set List and Previous Project In Set List. Those can be assigned to any button widget.

  • Are you sure you have no other clock sources enabled in Synchronization settings of the AU and the Master. Link should be the only sync source or you'll run into problems.

Thanks for that "load next" Tip wim :)

I wish there was more control of the link settings. Im working for a client and if my ipad is on the same network it screws everything up lol. Syncronization customization would be nice.

ive found that if i have any backing tracks loaded in the main project it will mess with making a fresh loop that is unrelated to the backing track... even if its not playing.

Huh. I can't imagine why that would be the case. You should be able to have one or more tracks loaded without any issue at all. You should be able to load all your backing tracks in one project, or to have a single track loaded in each and smoothly transition from one project to another.

If the backing track is the only loop in a project, it will set the tempo, so maybe that's the issue? If so, then just assuring that there is another dummy loop (it can be recorded with silence) in the project would prevent any unintentional tempo changes.

If you're interested in drilling down to why a backing track in the main project would mess with making a fresh loop, more details about what is happening would be helpful. It's either just something that can be cleared up or it's a bug. Either way it would be useful to get to the bottom of it.

Can you explain more about what you mean and post a demonstration?
